We had the good fortune of connecting with Rubin and Tara Brooks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rubin and Tara, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
We believe moving from Illinois to Texas and starting our own business has had the most significant impact on our children. Them seeing us make such drastic changes in life and doing so successfully gives our children the confidence to stand behind their ideas no matter how crazy it may seem. We tell our kids often follow your dreams, find what makes you happy, and most of all don’t be afraid to make a mistake because you learn from your mistakes and it makes you better. We have and will always uplift ours because hearing it at home first is just confirmation when a stranger does it.

What should our readers know about your business?
What’s sets us apart from others is that we offer Texas style BBQ with a taste of our Illinois roots. Our sauce is one of a kind and you can literally put it on everything. We’re most proud of following our dream and not being scared to step out on faith. It was not an easy road. We started the food truck just a couple of months before the pandemic started and had to shut down for a while. We are blessed to be able to get through it but it was definitely a setback for the growth of the business. One of the biggest lessons we’ve learned along the way is success doesn’t come as fast as you would like. It’s a process and you have to be patient, have faith that it will eventually breakthrough, and when things don’t go right you work harder. We want everyone to know that when they visit our food truck we’re going give them a great experience with consistent exceptional food that is not overpriced.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well we would go check out the Science Museum downtown. We would head over to Arlington area and checkout the stadiums and Texas Live. They would get All In BBQ for lunch and for dinner we would go to Babe’s Chicken. We would also try and fit in some family fun time a Main Event.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First we have to give thanks to God for giving us the strength, guidance, and allowing us to follow dreams we didn’t know was possible. We would like to send a special shout-out to our encouraging family and friends because without them we would have second guessed every move we have made along this journey. So thank you all for being encouraging. You all know who you are but it’s too many people to name.
