Meet Rose Guzman | Dallas Proposal Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rose Guzman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rose, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I was inspired to begin my photography business as a surprise proposal photographer when I captured a friend’s daughter’s surprise marriage proposal. The genuine emotions captivated me as a photographer to capture such a one in a lifetime moment for other’s to relive their story through their portraits.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
One thing that sets me apart is having a heart of a servant. As a Christian photographer, I believe in serving others. Thus, I serve with a genuine and friendly heart. I like to make my clients feel special and make the process from start to finish as easy as possible, so that they can focus and remain present on celebrating with their loved ones, while I take care of the rest. I am most excited about each couple who has booked their surprise marriage proposal with My One Sweet Rose Photo and I am thankful for the opportunity I am given to document their engagement. It was not easy getting to where I was. I had many moments of frustration, imposter syndrome, and unworthiness. Through prayer, and the support of my family, and clients, I was able to keep going and growing my business. I believe, God is in control of my life through His will. Thus, one thing I’d like to share with anyone facing challenges is to trust in Him to guide you and give you the wisdom to be successful in your business as a creative. Lucky for us, God doesn’t have favorites, so we can all be successful!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting the area, we’d visit Snooze on Walnut Hill Lane in Dallas for breakfast. We’d stop by White Rock Coffee House for a yummy blended Caramel Macchiato. We’d visit Klyde Warren Park to burn off the calories. And walk around downtown. For lunch we’d stop by for sushi at Hungry Belly. And stop by for ice cream at Van Leeuwen Ice Cream in West Village. Then hop in for a movie at Violet Crown Cinema. For dinner we’d pick up Italian at Scalinis and head over to Griggs Park for a picnic as the sun sets over the downtown Skyline. We’d also visit live bands that cover past artists as well as current artists in the Dallas Arboretum.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my Father in heaven, God. I believe God blessed me with the talent to become a photographer to capture the emotion that brings everyone together, which is love. I also want to thank my family, especially my husband who is supportive in all that I want to achieve. And, of course, my friends who support me throughout the years!
