We had the good fortune of connecting with Rob Adams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rob, how do you think about risk?
I believe taking risks is what sets dreamers apart from doers. A lot of people have dreams, goals and the desire to create a better version of themselves. The only way to reach the life you want is to step out of your comfort zone and take-action.

The unknown can be scary. Not having every step figured out as an entrepreneur can be intimidating. I think that’s the #1 reason why so many talented and capable people never take the step into owning their own business. I personally struggled with the fear of the unknown. Do I have what it takes? Will my business succeed? But then I started to understand that having doubts is normal the key is not to allow those doubts to hinder you from moving forward and reaching your goals. As hockey legend Wayne Gretzky puts it, “You’ll miss 100% of the shots you don’t take!”

Your success in business and in life begins and ends with your thinking. As author Mike Ogbebor explains it, “The actions and inactions of a man are largely determined by what goes on in his mind.”

Have faith. Never stop learning. Take the shot!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

I’m an author, coach and real estate investor [Kingdom Acquisitions] with a unique and compelling story!

In my latest book, Win from Within: Discovering the Champion Inside, I discuss my personal journey overcoming cancer at 20 years old while in college. I was athletic and healthy growing up so the diagnosis came as a complete shock to those who knew me. For nearly 6 months, I endured the intense side effects of medical treatments including weight loss, severe fatigue and body aches to name a few yet I was determined to remain positive and trust that God had a plan with this challenging experience.

I am blessed to say that I’ve been completely healed and living my best life! I believe that everything happens for a reason and that each of us have something special to contribute to make the world a better place. And so, I decided to write about my story to inspire lives and remind others that through exercising faith, understanding the power of your words and maintaining a positive mental attitude, nothing can hold you down…for long!

To win at life, you must first learn how to win from within!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

I’m new to Dallas but I recommend a few places for good food and entertainment:

Dallas has good BBQ all over – one of my favorites is Pecan Lodge on Main St. The Fort Worth Stockyards are another great option for BBQ – from ribs to pulled pork sandwiches, you can find it here. Might be enough BBQ to feed a small country.

There are also restaurants with downtown city views for date night or a night out with friends – Monarch, Te Deseo and Sky Blossom to name a few.

For daytime activities, The State Fair of Texas is amazing! Usually held end of September. Lots of rides, shows, animals and everything is deep fried – the fried Oreo and fried jambalaya are probably my favorites. The Fort Worth Zoo is also another great option.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

A special thanks to my beloved mother who showed me the importance of faith, family and hard work!
