We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Whaley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rachel, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I was in chiropractic school I knew I wanted to practice with a certain philosophy and in a certain way and did not think that would be conducive of being an associate for another office where I couldn’t choose how to practice. So I decided to start my own business so I wouldn’t be limited in how I chose to serve the community and my patients and know that my success or failure wouldn’t be dependent on someone else.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
So right from the get go I knew I wanted to start my own business. I knew I wanted to serve a ton of families and pregnant mommies and babies and have a very different, unique fee system to accommodate seeing whole families on a consistent, regular basis. My fee system is the most unique aspect of my office because after the first initial visit I allow each of my patients to set their own fee as long as they are coming at least once every two weeks so chiropractic care can be within their budget for their families for months if not years because the fee system makes it possible for it to become preventative care rather than reactive care. Initially, they may need more frequency when they first start care to try to get their nervous system out of an acute stress stage so even if they are needing to come three times a week they still are able to dictate what they are able to afford to come in on that consistency to get the results that their bodies need. Because of this unique model we have been able to serve families for years and years… Many families have been coming to me for five or more years some even have been seeing me for 10 or more years in my 13 years of practice. I Love the flexibility that it offers as well as the community it allows me to serve and the diversity that we see in our office with the flexibility of the model…. from babies to great grandparents. All are welcome at The Chiropractic Wellness Cafe.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Hmmmm… a few places I would take them to eat that are my favs would be Snooze off of 7th street, American Revelry, First Watch, Wishbone and Flint, and a variety of coffee shops (like Crude, Sons of Liberty, and Dwell) because I LOVE coffee.

I love escape rooms so I’d probably take them to The Secret Chambers for a fun night and I love being active so Top Golf or axe throwing would probably be something else I’d recommend. Most of the time when I want to connect with a friend we’d just hang at the house by the pool or go to a bookstore and browse some new reads…

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband, Aaron, definitely deserves a shoutout because he’s always believed in my vision and how I wanted to run my practice and fully supported me all through school and even in the early days when people thought I was crazy to have a fee system modeled the way I did. I’ve always been very blessed with an amazing support system from him, my parents, and some other amazing chiropractic classmates who challenged me to serve others to the best of my ability.
