Meet Yolanda Pitre

We had the good fortune of connecting with Yolanda Pitre, RN, BSN and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Pitre Housing was created to provide safe, stable, and truly person-centered living spaces for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. What sets us apart is that our services are built from both a clinical and human perspective. As a Registered Nurse, I understand the importance of medical oversight, safety, and compliance, but just as importantly, I understand that quality of life, dignity, and consistency are essential to long-term success. We don’t believe in simply placing individuals—we focus on thoughtful matching, supportive environments, and relationships that foster independence and stability.
I am most proud of building a program that families can trust and individuals can feel at home in. Every decision we make is intentional, from how we screen host home providers to how we collaborate with service coordinators and care teams. What excites me most is the opportunity to grow Pitre Housing while staying rooted in our mission and values, ensuring that expansion never comes at the expense of quality.
Getting to where I am today was not easy. Building a business in a highly regulated space requires resilience, patience, and a willingness to learn continuously. There were moments of uncertainty, challenges with systems, and times when progress felt slow. I overcame those challenges by staying committed to the vision, leaning into mentorship, asking questions, and trusting my professional experience. Each obstacle reinforced the importance of preparation, adaptability, and strong partnerships.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that purpose must lead the process. When your “why” is clear, challenges become part of the growth rather than a reason to stop. I’ve also learned that success doesn’t happen overnight—it’s built through consistency, integrity, and showing up even when it’s uncomfortable.
What I want the world to know about Pitre Housing and my story is that this work is deeply personal. It’s rooted in advocacy, compassion, and the belief that everyone deserves a safe place to live and be supported with dignity. We are building more than a business—we are building trust, stability, and opportunities for individuals and families to thrive.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would start our visit with dinner at Kitchen + Kocktails by Kevin Kelley, the best Southern‑inspired restaurant in downtown Dallas. This local favorite serves elevated comfort classics like Caribbean jerk lamb chops, shrimp and grits, fried catfish, chicken & waffles, and rich mac and cheese, all paired with bold, creative kocktails. It’s the perfect spot to catch up, laugh, and set the tone for an exciting week.
After dinner, we would head next door to Club VIVO, one of Dallas’s hottest nightlife destinations. Known for its vibrant crowd and high-energy dance floor, it’s a great place to experience the city’s nightlife.
For a chill day with rooftop drinks, we would head to KANVAS by Kevin Kelley in Deep Ellum. This stylish rooftop lounge offers fantastic cocktails, elevated bar bites, and great city views. Whether you’re relaxing, people-watching, or enjoying a game, it’s the perfect spot to unwind and soak in the city’s energy.
After a few busy days, we would treat ourselves to some pampering at a local spa. A luxurious massage, facial, or wellness treatment to recharge for the rest of the week. I love everything self-care, so this would be the perfect addition to our girls’ week.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout first and foremost to my husband. His unwavering support, patience, and belief in my vision have been foundational to my journey. Building a business while balancing personal and professional responsibilities isn’t easy, and having someone who consistently encourages you—especially during uncertain moments—has made all the difference. His unwavering support behind the scenes gave me the confidence to take risks and remain committed to building our legacy, Pitre Housing.
I also want to recognize the mentors, colleagues, and families I’ve encountered throughout my nursing and leadership journey. As a Registered Nurse, I’ve been fortunate to learn from professionals who modeled advocacy, integrity, and compassion. Lastly, I am deeply grateful to the individuals and families who trust us with their care. Their trust reinforces the purpose behind the work and continues to inspire me every day.
