We had the good fortune of connecting with Christopher & Deana Young and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christopher & Deana, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The business began with a simple goal: helping a neighbor by providing meals for her family. She didn’t want to cook or learn how, so I stepped in to help. Hundreds of thousands of meals later, we’re still proudly serving families and helping our neighbors throughout the DFW Metroplex.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
LifePlate is a premier prepared meal delivery company that uses an online subscription model to provide both health and convenience. We are proud recent winners of the ICIC Inner City 100, recognized as the #1 fastest-growing company.

With over 20 years of combined experience in food service and leadership development, we bring a strong and complementary skill set to everything we do. We rely on one another’s strengths and operate as a true team.
Entrepreneurship is not easy—there are days when we must encourage one another through the challenges that come with building and scaling a business. There is always more to learn and execute in order to reach our goals.

What keeps us grounded is our commitment to continuous learning, trust in one another, and the support of a like-minded community.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We love living in Dallas—it has been a wonderful place for our family. There’s a nice balance here between city energy and open spaces, and we enjoy taking full advantage of it. On slower days, we like soaking up the sun at local parks or taking peaceful walks by the lake.

When we have visitors, we love showing them the different personalities of the city. We’ll spend time exploring areas like Deep Ellum, Bishop Arts, the Greenville Avenue district, Las Colinas, and the Riverwalk. Each area has its own unique feel—from arts and culture to great food, music, and nightlife.

I, Deana, also love to cook, and while home-cooked meals are always appreciated, our guests usually want to experience classic Texas favorites. So stops like Pecan Lodge for barbecue and Twisted Root Burger are always part of our lineup when hosting family and friends. For us, it’s all about good food, good company, and showing people the heart of Dallas.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We truly would not be where we are today without the encouragement and support of local organizations and leaders like the Cornerstone Center for Economic Opportunity, Cynthia Nevels and Start.Pivot.Grow., as well as Ashlee Kleinert and Ruthie’s Fueled by Good. They have been a beacon of light, encouragement, and support throughout our journey. Their belief in us gave us the motivation to keep pushing forward and the time and space to truly understand and strengthen our business.
