We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Herrod and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rachel, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We are a mother-daughter duo and both have backgrounds in different fields. Rachel is a pediatric dental hygienist, and Lisa is an accountant. After Covid hit, we were both looking to get back out in the world, and were excited about the idea of starting a business together. We researched starting a balloon company, and decided it was a perfect fit. We went all in! Lots of balloon businesses start as a side hustle, but we were determined to make How About Balloons a full time endeavor. We also loved the idea of making our own hours and working together. Family is the backbone of our business, and How About Balloons is proud to be a full service balloon company that is female owned and family run! We are proud of our growth and enjoy being our own bosses as well. We continue to invest our time and energy into How About Balloons and from the beginning steady growth has been one of our main goals.

What should our readers know about your business?
How About Balloons is your go to company for custom luxury balloons for all occasions. We pride ourselves in providing balloons for every client at every price point. Our price transparent website sets us apart. We would encourage you to visit our website www.howaboutballoons.com. We are most proud of starting this company from the ground up and all the growth we have experienced. It wasn’t always easy, but we are steadily ready to learn. We will take on any job we are offered, and cannot wait to see what the coming years hold. We want the world to know that we are ready to help you celebrate and bring joy to your events!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As small business owners ourselves, we love to support local small businesses! We would start the day with cinnamon rolls from The Moonbeam Bakery in Allen. Then, head over to The Dinosaur Company for a dino tour. We would have lunch at Mexi-Go in Allen. Mexi-Go has been our family’s favorite local Tex-Mex spot for decades. We would spend the afternoon at the splash pad at The Village at Fairview and round out the night with dinner at Pie 314 in Fairview.

The perfect family day of fun!!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We would like to dedicate our shoutout to the great guys in our lives. Our spouses and sons have provided steady support for How About Balloons and having them cheer us on is wonderful!
