Meet Queenie La’Rouge | Writer/Entertainer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Queenie La’Rouge and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Queenie, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
This is industry (entertainment) is not for the weak. There are moments where you will feel defeated , an outcast , and ready to give up. Then there are the moments the industry makes you feel proud of your accomplishments, you’ll feel like it’s worth the ride etc.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Since a young age I remember placing my stuffed animals in a row, and performing Aaliyah songs in front of them. I knew from a young age I wanted to be something big, I didn’t know what exactly, but I knew I wanted to the biggest. Somedays it’s not easy trying to figure out my purpose in life. I’m still working on my goals and dreams each day. I started writing rhymes in 2006, and recording in 2014. I was always shy and hated my voice , so when i would write a verse i would tell my brother to read it and rap it in out loud lol. He would always ask me to rap it to him , but i still haven’t found my voice yet. In between the large gap from 2006_2014 I was surviving the streets of Chicago, the loss of friends to gun violence etc. So I lost the motivation and will to keep going. Not sure what finally pushed me to get up and really take it serious, but in 2014 I recorded my first few songs. I’m proud that I pushed forward and never fully gave up. It’s a struggle in the music business but in the end I pray it’s all worth.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Tapville in Evanston is a great spot!. Me and my fiance go for the delicious fried cauliflower bites, and large drink selection. I had the braised ribs which were delicious!. I would also say Dave N busters lol. At my big age I love playing games , and winning the tickets for prizes lol.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Would like to s/o jhurd for referring me to this platform. Would also like to show love to my Big brother for being the biggest inspiration in my career. To all the supporters who have kept me on my toes this whole journey. My mother for teaching me to write, and instill in me Hard work and never giving up. Without her I wouldn’t be the writer I am today!. Last but not least…..S/o to Aaliyah for showing me as a young child that us tomboys can be the True “IT” girls!.
