We had the good fortune of connecting with Peneka Kelly and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Peneka, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Being authentic, you are uniquely you. If you are doing something that’s already been done, make it stand out amongst the others.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Taste is what sets my food apart from others. I’ve spent countless hours trying to perfect the design. But at the end of the day I chose taste over looks. I’ll perfect the design later. I cook with transparency, you will taste and feel the love put into my food.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to Corrientes 348 Argentinian Steakhouse for food and drinks. Bishop Arts District to visit and shop. And JPosse Media Studio for the best music vibe in a creative environment.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My biggest supporter is my husband, Mr. Jesse Kelly. He saw something great in me before I could put a finger on it. Lol! He was my first taste tester and when what I prepared wasn’t just right he would encourage me by eating it anyway. I can recall last year, 2021 when I started baking professionally, I had this line cook interview and wanted to impress the chef with my sock it to me cupcake and he was the first to taste and feel in love with it on sight. Needless to say I got the job.
