Meet Orlando Hopson | Executive Protection & Executive Assistant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Orlando Hopson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Orlando, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Work Life balance is something I had to get better at. It has definitely changed over time just because I had to learn the real meaning of it for my life plus make adjustments to set boundaries. When I think about balance I don’t its a 50/50 thing I think its about making sure in everything you do between the two you are fully present in those moments to give it your full attention/effort. Like for instance when I’m on the road for work I’m there 100% when I need to be but when its time to FaceTime with my Fiancée and daughter I’m 100% there to ensure they understand that even though I’m on the road for work they are my priority.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
So I do Executive Protection and Executive Assisting. The one thing that sets me apart is my heart the reason I say that is because I have a servants heart so in my business I’m not in it for the money its about help/serving people for me. Some people in my industry are in it for the money, status, etc. How did I get here?? I started off in the church as an Armor Bearer so serving in that capacity I learned a lot which became second nature to me because that role is both of my industries rolled up in one role. It wasn’t easy but it was worth it I learned so much through watching people, trainings and experience that helped me be better in my industries. They way I overcame challenges was prayer, my core people processing things with me, but ultimately letting the challenge teach me something so I would know how to problem solve better. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned along the way is never stop learning your craft in some way and always be listening because you never know who may say something you need to hold on to for something in the future. I want the world to know about me or my brand is this Excellence Is The Standard not Perfection!!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend is in town we would eat at Pangea, then we would have drinks at Ten:01, I would take them to deep ellum to take dope photos.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
YES!! I want to Shoutout my Core: God, Dominique (My Fiancée), Phoenix (My Daughter), TJ (My Brother). First and foremost God because without him I wouldn’t be here or have the opportunities I’ve had I don’t deserve it but he gives me grace. Dominique where do I begin…..I won’t go in like she deserves but what I will say is THIS WOMAN has held me down when I couldn’t hold myself!! She never gave up on me even when it wasn’t easy for her but she still believed in me plus pushed, covered, loved & spoke life into me so THANK YOU BABE AND I LOVE YOU!! Princess Thank you for your love, and sharing me with the world in some ways. You make our time when I’m home special every time and I cherish that more than you know I LOVE YOU!! TJ bro Thank You for being obedient in my life thank you for giving me unconditional love and always imparting wisdom into me when I needed it. Thank you for being a leader, a brother, and exposing me to the world in ways I didn’t know were possible you are a blessing to my life!! These 4 mean more than the world to me they have seen me in some of my darkest moments and still stayed right there with me. There are other people that have been very influential and impactful in my life but I wanted to shout these individuals out!!
