We had the good fortune of connecting with Original Soul and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Original, what do you attribute your success to?
It is important for us to stay true to our mission, which is to speak from the heart and provide the listening audience with something of real substance. We have to stay authentic. We have to provide great content that is different from what anyone else is doing, in order to show people that there are many different styles to choose from outside of what people are used to. The audience is eager to hear something new, something impactful, and not just something that sounds like everything that’s out already. Our success will be determined by us daring to be different.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The one thing I’m most proud of is being able to perfect my unique sound and create songs that are relatable. There is already a plethora of songs about everything under the sun that people have already heard before, and I tend to go against that because there will always be more to talk about. I have to keep things interesting.

The same can be said about M4g Entertainment. It is not just a label. It is a mentoring service. It is a family. When you come into our studio, we want you to feel as comfortable as you would your own home. We build on things happening in the industry, we talk about what one seeks to achieve in the music industry, and most of all, we have fun. One of our goals with our artists is to make each artist self-sufficient, so if they were to go into another studio or work with other artists, they are able to identify any issues with sound quality and engineering. We want the artist to be happy with their work before they leave, and also have more knowledge of the business. We give advice on how to be their own artist, so they know who to approach for distribution and merchandising, who to reach out to for shows, how to maintain their sound engineering, writing techniques, all the way down to live performance tips. Most of all, there are no contracts. We don’t want any artist to feel tied down by a contract so that they are free to negotiate with any label of their choosing, but when they go to other labels, they will have a better idea of what other labels will be looking for, instead of going into another label as a novice.

In life, there will always be some challenges. We’ve had technical issues with equipment. We had delays in distribution. We had issues with marketing and promotion. We even had issues with outside producers and collaborators. But these things are also a part of our growth and we use these things to our benefit to help teach and inspire others looking to get into this career. These are just some of the things we also advise to other artists so they get to see the good and the bad.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A lot of the places I like to visit include the arts. Would definitely visit the Bishop Arts District and stop by places like Dude, Sweet Chocolate, Mantiques, and whatever else looks interesting. Josey Records is a day trip to go hunting for classic vinyl. Have some good food at Terillis. Or, something interesting I noticed when visiting Ft.Worth: driving through downtown Ft.Worth AT NIGHT. It’s beautiful! I’m so used to the Dallas skyline and how iconic it is, but I got lost one time trying to get back to Dallas from Ft.Worth, and was just looking around and was really impressed.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This is dedicated to everyone that has shown love by playing my music, sharing my music, streaming the music, and helping to keep me relevant.
