We had the good fortune of connecting with Natalie Huscheck and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natalie, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Well Grounded Coffee Community is a 501c3 Nonprofit that uplifts marginalized women in Dallas. We hire formerly incarcerated moms, homeless pregnant women, and Women in recovery. We journey alongside them in work skills, education, community resources, and faith. The result is not only a reduction in recidivism, but true transformation for generations.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The ladies that we hire will learn the skills of a Coffee House, but they will learn so much more as well. We teach every aspect of the business including finances, inventory, customer care, etc. Along with this, they begin an educational journey. By the time they are ready to move on, they are equipped to enter the workforce at a much higher level than they could have before. We have sent our baristas to work in other local non-profits, accounting offices, etc. Their children have a front row seat to watch their moms work hard, study, and create a better life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When we have family visit, we love taking them to Well Grounded Coffee House to meet the baristas of course! We also enjoy White Rock Alehouse for dinner and will usually visit the Dallas Arboretum. East Dallas has the beautiful White Rock Lake as well for a walk or bike ride.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Exodus Ministries is one of our hiring partners. They take in women out of prison, reunite them with their children. They do amazing work with these moms to prepare them for transition into the community.
