We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Cellette and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samantha, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
The name of my business is Agape Designs Texas, and for a good reason. Agape means “the God-kind of Love,” and it is the driving force behind everything I do. We have a sign up in our living room that says, “Let all that you do be done in love. 1 Corinthians 16:14” My husband and I have not only set that as a standard for ourselves, but for our business and our family as well.

As a mother, I believe the greatest thing I can teach my children is how to love and be loved. In a world full of hate and division, I purpose give them the gift of love. My daughter Madi just turned 3 and she knows no strangers. Every time we are in public, she waves at everyone, and calls everyone her friends. How powerful is that?! She doesn’t look at skin, or age, or gender. All that she knows is that Love is the force behind everything we do, and she walks it out beautifully.

As far as receiving love, when a child knows they are loved they feel empowered and valued. I believe this is the greatest way we can set them up for success. Making sure they know that if they make a mistake, they have somewhere to run to, and if they feel lost, they can always come home. That kind of love gives them a confidence that sets them up to truly be the difference we need in the world today.

If I can leave any legacy for my children, I pray that above money or stuff, I instill in them a legacy of love, a legacy of Agape.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Agape started about 5 years ago when I made a wreath as a gift for my mentor. She wanted a beachy Christmas wreath, and at the time there weren’t many to choose from, so I decided I would make one, and I did! Shortly after, I had more people asking me about wreaths and then Agape Designs Texas was born. After about a year of this, I got married and got pregnant with my first baby. At this point, you can imagine my priorities shifted. Wreaths were no longer my focus, but I was beginning to find out what it looked like to have a family and I wasn’t sure how that fit together yet. So, my little side hustle faded away, for a little while.

A few months after my little girl was born, the desire to really make Agape official was burning in me, so I went to the courthouse and made it official, Agape was now a business. After that, I had no idea what it would grow into. I started with just wreaths and some home decor, then hosted my first bridal shower and LOVED every aspect of it. Expansion then began.

Bridal Showers, baby showers, birthday parties, anniversary parties, even a wedding! Now, Agape is primarily focused on events. As a planner and designer, I love being part of every aspect of an event. From designing custom invitations and print outs, to beautiful balloon installs, decadent grazing tables and handmade decor, an Agape event truly is one of a kind. I love getting to know my clients and making their event totally custom to their likes and desires.

This is what I love about what I do. When I first started Agape, I heard in prayer one morning that God wanted me to use this platform to, “Spread the love of God through creativity and relationships.” I didn’t quite understand how to do that with a front door wreath, but that wreath opened the door to so much more. Now, I get to know my clients and can share that Agape Love with them. I get to collaborate with people to create their dream events where families and friends gather, life is celebrated, and Love is shared. Fueled by love, hard work and Chick Fil’a unsweet tea, Agape is run by my family for families to celebrate every season and the beauty of life, family and home.

The newest facet of Agape, which is still in the early stages, is The Agape Story. This is my blog, where I share “little reads on the big things.” I have a group of ladies that are some of my dearest friends and mentors that all take turns writing articles with me. We cover everything from life advice, to parenting, recipes, decor ideas and more! I’m so excited for this facet of Agape to continue to grow and cannot wait to see the lives that it will impact.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are so many areas I enjoy, and my answers are totally dependent on the time of year, thank you Texas heat!

In the Spring, we would have to hit up all the outdoor places that are not as fun in the summer heat: The Fort Worth Zoo, The Botanic Gardens and The Stockyards, all very family friendly places that I can bring my littles to. For food, we would have to visit Ol’ South Pancake House, a Fort Worth staple, Flying Fish off Montgomery for some great southern seafood, and slide down to Burleson for a visit to Stone Soup Cafe for some soup and sandwiches.

Once Summer hits, it’s all about staying cool for me, whether that’s by AC or water. If you’re an adrenaline junkie, Hawaiian Falls may be your place, or the more local Pirate’s Cove. And if you’re a shopper I would go to the historic Fort Worth Mercantile for all your vintage finds or hit up all the local farmer’s markets on the weekends. I love supporting local businesses and you can find the cutest things!

Now, once the holidays hit, Grapevine is the place to go! They have some of the best restaurants and the cutest shops and walking down main street is like your straight out of a Hallmark movie. It’s called the “Christmas Capital of Texas” for a reason! It’s a must see for the whole family and one of my absolute favorite places to go!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Agape has definitely not been a one woman show. Over the past 3 years so many people have attributed to my success, but from the beginning there are three people specifically that have really shown me the love.

As far as my passion for marriage and family goes, I attribute that passion to Kassi. She has poured into me over the past 8 years and has taught me so much about a godly marriage and how to raise children to love God and love people whole-heartedly. She has taught me what it looks like to be a Proverbs 31 woman and how to be the wife and mama that God destined me to be. I would not be who I am as a woman without her love and wisdom over the years.

In the area of design, Stephanie is my lady. She is a pro! She’s done everything from conferences to weddings and everything in between and always let me tag along as her sidekick. When I first got into decor, she always encouraged me in my gift and often believed in me more than I believed in myself. We have done so many events together over the years and she is still my favorite person to get attacked by a balloon garland with. (That’s a story for another day!)

Lastly, but definitely not least, is my husband, Matt. He has loved and believed in me the most, even when I am at my worst. He has made countless wood projects for me to use in my events, has tied bows, picked flowers, pulled all-nighters helping me prepare for an event, and even trekked through the woods collecting hundreds of pinecones for me! He has put up with countless Hobby Lobby runs, and Amazon deliveries. He is the definition of Agape. He loves me unconditionally and is my biggest fan. In his eyes, everything I create is beautiful, even if it’s really not, haha.

These are just three, but I have several friends and family that really make Agape what it is. The whole reason I started Agape is because of my love for family and community. Whether it’s a blog post about mom life, a wedding celebrating a new beginning, or a wreath to welcome friends and family home, these people and their love are the reason behind it all. They are the reason we celebrate.
