We had the good fortune of connecting with Nancy Aguayo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nancy, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
I define success as the freedom to set my own schedule. I left my corporate sales job in 2013 to work independently because family is really important to me.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I own an insurance agency in Garland TX. I opened my agency on 6/2019 and have been an insurance agent since 2009. Some of the challenges I faced in this industry is being so young & being a woman. Insurance sales is very male dominated, although that is changing. Also, I found it difficult for people to take me seriously because I was so young. I was 23 years old when I got my insurance license. Credibility & Trust matters in this business, especially when you’re insuring peoples most important assets. I spent a lot of time seeking advise from tenured agents & developing business relationships that could filter leads my way.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love grabbing a drink at Here Lounge on Garland Road & going for a walk or picnic at White Rock Lake.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
“success” in anything and particularly in my case is thanks to the encouragement and support of my family, friends and mentors. I take comfort in knowing I can turn to them for strength & help.
