We had the good fortune of connecting with MIchele Washington and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi MIchele, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
In the midst of the pandemic, my event business suffered tremendously. As a self-taught Florist & Party Stylist, it was really hard for me to do weddings & private events or really anything, due to cancellations beyond anyone’s control. . So this is when I decided to pick my brain and come up with a way that I can use my talents to make money in a safe way but also in a way that I wouldn’t get burnt out on. After praying to God for guidance in a breakthrough I started to study Pinterest and really get ideas for what I can do to be able to bring people together creatively and this is when I started to see boho picnics & backyard parties constantly popping up on my feed. The idea inspired me to be able to create a similar aesthetic which sparked the idea of hosting luxury picnics for clients.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about.

As a party stylist, I love being able to make my client’s event dreams a reality! So what makes us so different at Polished Parties is that we are now a One-Stop shop for literally everything you can imagine you’ll need for your next event or party. We offer not only luxury picnics, fresh florals, customized party favors, signage, rentals, event styling, and an exclusive vendor list to amazing vendors who help us create beautiful events. But now we also offer a beautiful all-white photo & event studio that we just opened this past October in the North Dallas area. ( STUDIO ONE ELEVEN DALLAS ) Our clients do not have to worry or be stressed about their events. We can bring the party to them ( because I mean we are the life of the party duh! ) or our clients can come to us, and just arrive for the party with everything already set in place for them at our event studio.

How did you get to where you are today professionally.

I owe literally everything that I do and everything that I have to God! God has been so good and a blessing to me and my family. Prayer positive self-talk / Affirmations and consistency are the key ingredients that have been essential to me and my business.

Was it easy?

If not, how did you overcome the challenges?

Being a business owner is definitely not easy I’ve learned a lot of hard but valuable lessons along the way. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned so far is to be very particular about who you hire to work for your brand. Not everyone takes your brand as seriously as you and will not always have the best intentions. This is why now I have set in place a more intensive interview process to ensure that I am hiring the right person. Another lesson I learned is to make sure you surround yourself with like-minded people and people who want to see you win, have pure intentions, & motivate you to be your best self.
