We had the good fortune of connecting with Melissa Rodriquez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Melissa, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I started Haute Head Salon I wanted to create a salon that felt like a family, My idea was to build a salon that is fun and light-hearted, and full of personality. Our salon creates an environment that gives every guest the feeling of visiting a friend, The bright interior brings fun and whimsy and I hand-picked stylists that I felt make every guest feel special. Our guests really are the best of the community and come back because they instantly create lasting friendships.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am proud that I have built a salon that has continued to flourish in this growing community. The excitement of where my business has come and where it is going keeps me driven and focused. Creating Haute Head Salon was not an easy task. I had a clear vision but it took a lot of pushing and you’ve got this to finally get the ball rolling. There were many ups and downs and sacrifices made when creating this salon. I overcame all these challenges with the love and support of my friends and family. I have learned throughout this process that when you are driven and focused all things can be achieved. I want everyone to know that at the salon I created everyone is welcome. Everyone has a safe space to express themselves thru the art of hair. When you visit our salon you not only leave feeling better about yourself but you leave with newfound friends and family.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am a total brunch fiend. we have an amazing brunch place called the Brunch House next to the salon so we would grab a bottle of champagne (byob) and pop in for a delicious brunch. After brunch, we would go work off the meal with some Axe throwing in Crowley at Tomahawk Studios. This is an awesome place to relieve stress and have a fun time and it’s also byob! If we had an entire week there are so many amazing places here in Burleson to eat, drink, and have fun.

Some of my favorites are Lizzies Lunchbox (they also deliver to our salon), Antonio’s, and Torque. There are also some awesome local boutiques to shop at such as Jaxson James, Mecca Fox, and Pink Chandelier. There is definitely no shortage of places to have fun here in our local community.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother Kathy Deheck is my mentor and my ride or die. Not only did she raise a strong independent and sometimes stubborn woman, but she molded me to be the business owner i am today. With her constant pushing she changed my faults into my strengths and my positive traits into my drive. I owe my success to her love and support and her ability to be there for me always.
