We had the good fortune of connecting with Meachie Meachie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Meachie, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risks are a touchy subject, because most “entrepreneurs” would associate risks with gambling or daredevil behavior, but the greats associate it with investments. Risk have played a major role in my career/life, because I’m not afraid to play the field. Most of the people close to me can attest, I don’t mind a good gamble. When I think of risk, I ask myself, “Is it worth the reward?”. The times I didn’t calculate my rewards, I found my self in a lot of avoidable situations. All in all, you have to take risk in order to be successful, you just have to know which ones to take.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m from East Texas, Texarkana, Tx to be exact & I’ve been making music my whole life. Growing up as a young black man, we didn’t see too many successful people where I came from who looked like us. So, I take pride in being able to come onto platforms such as this & share my story. Most of the successful people that looked like us, were in the streets, or professional athletes, so we adopted the saying cleats or streets. I fell in love with the field & picked up my cleats, but I always had a passion for music. I recorded my first song when I was 12 , but I remember times as a kid being in the studio with my older cousins. In my early years I moved back & forth from Texarkana to the DFW, so never really took it seriously. I was in & out of trouble as a kid, & eventually my moms moved me to Grand Prairie for good. That’s when I turned my closet into a studio. I took a mini dell laptop, installed Adobe Audition, took a ps4 camera/mic put it in a sock & used it as a usb mic. This is what I recorded on from middle school until I graduated. The trouble didn’t stop tho, & I could’ve bought a real set up, but at the time I didn’t take it seriously & I would always call myself taking “rap breaks” where I’d stop being a rapper & focused on football. Eventually I went on to college to play ball, & that’s when everything changed. On September 20th, 2015, in the middle of the season & just so happened to be our Bi-Week, my brother was murdered. He was making music at the time & was gaining some buzz. At that point, it seemed like my life took a turn. I became angry at the world. It was a lot of dark days around that time, & I spiraled into some real legal troubles, but through it all, music was my coping mechanism. I started going to real studios & actually taking entertainment seriously. I gained some life time friends along the way, & was able to learn a lot about myself. I come from humble beginnings, it’s not easy putting your life in the light for public scrutiny, but I’m not ashamed of what I came from. The choices & decisions I made shaped me into the man I am today, and for that I’m thankful. I make music for the common people. The people who wake up everyday, & go make a way for themselves, & their families. & if you reading this, I do this for you…..

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give credit to the ones who’ve believed in me thus far, & all the loved ones lost along the way.
