We had the good fortune of connecting with Marielle Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marielle, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
When I worked in corporate roles, work life balance did not even come into the equation. It didn’t matter if I had to start early or stay back late, or work weekends. I poured myself into the role. That all changed when I had kids of course. Suddenly I discovered that I didn’t have the capacity or the freedom that I once had, and my productivity really mattered. I focused on my top three tasks and allowed myself to drop the rest if needs be. To this day my top three tasks in a day include lead generation, a couple hours client work, and working on my passive income stream. I’ve discovered that in most cases the task will fit into the container you give it, rather than a traditional 9-5 schedule. This has drastically cut down the amount of hours that I work in the business from 50+ hours, to 25 in a week.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I design for heart-led coaches, practitioners and creatives who are passionate about improving the lives of others. I know that when it comes to design, there’s nothing more important that feeling seen and heard. I take the time to truly understand my client’s goals and big picture vision to custom create brand identities and websites that attract the right people.

I’m proud of some of the results that my clients have achieved after we have worked together. That what’s the most rewarding part of owning your own business- seeing the direct results of your work. After working with me, my clients have increased their prices, booked out their signature programs, and have been featured in major publications like British Vogue.

It hasn’t been easy building a successful brand design business. I’ve had to overcome a lot of self doubt, improve my skills exponentially, and learn the foundations of operating a business. By constantly showing up, sharing my passion for design and not being afraid to share my offers, I’ve been able to book some of the most incredible clients in the health and coaching space, for which I am truly grateful.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to the amazing Life Coach Kemi Nekvapil. My business journey began with a life changing workshop held by Kemi at the Sunshine Coast Australia Wanderlust festival back in 2016. Kemi inspired me to want more for my life, and to create something that supported my own wellbeing and creative growth. At the time I had reached a dead-end in my career and was beginning to wonder if this is all there was, for the rest of my life. Kemi helped me to question my reality at the time, and to see that there were so many possibilities available to me.
