We had the good fortune of connecting with Mandy Glasscock and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mandy, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
What if I fall? Oh, but my darling, what if you fly?” Erin Hanson That was a quote I said to myself repeatedly when first stepping out in faith in 2018 to open my first business. It was 100 percent risk mixed with lots of trust and faith in the Lord to carry me through the difficulties as they come. I had not worked in several years, had zero clientele, but a crazy dream and belief that I could do it.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have two businesses. The first I opened was a mobile barbershop. I had heard of food truck but never a mobile barbershop. My big thing was I wanted to offer an experience where it was relational over transactional. Where clients leave knowing we care about them. I also want to provide incredible careers and training for my awesome team. This isn’t just about me, As difficult as it is I’m humbled and honored that I have other people’s families to also think about now. While hiring I just pray that working at my shops will be a huge blessing in their life. I now have my mobile shop still as well as a brick and mortar barbershop , Dapper Westside. It’s really my first vision come to life as my brick and mortar design and plan was a dream for many many years. It is not nor has ever been easy and I’m not where I need to be with the business yet. I know I’ll get there though so I keep on keepin on. I became a barber to help people via the homeless. It just so happened to become something I truly enjoy and something I can use to provide wonderful experiences for clients and incredible careers for my employees. My brand over all is a brand that cares about people. We all have value and worth and I hope I’m showing that one haircut at a time.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In Dallas where you guys are or in Tyler where I live? If in the DFW area we are hitting up Texas Skatium to roller skate-(I love roller skating), Thai Thumbz in either Dallas or Richardson for the best Thai food hands down, then hitting up a concert or pro sports game. I use to love old school hip hop night at Bourban and Banter speakeasy so if that was still happening we would go there too!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
All credit and glory goes to God. He has sustained me through it all. “It’s hard” is the understatement of the century but with His help I just keep swimming as Dory in Finding Nemo would say. My husband, Jason, while he has his own career has not only heard my dream but has never stopped running with me to see it come to life. He’s my partner in all things and I’m so thankful for him. Then there are our 3 kiddos, Bella, Presley, and Bronson. They are huge encouragers and have been some of my biggest cheerleaders. They are definitely my reasons for wanting to be successful and why I won’t give up.
