We had the good fortune of connecting with Lucy Gebert and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lucy, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks has played an important role in my life and as well as my career. Risk taking can be intimating to most people but to me risk taking comes naturally. I find I have more success when I stay true to who I am and not being afraid to be who I am. I took a risk by shaving my head and getting tattoos and not caring what others think about me. It takes a lot of courage to take risks in life in my opinion and no one should ever feel held back or afraid to a risk in life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve been a model for 4 years now and what sets me a part from others is my look. I’m not the “conventional” looking model type and I tend to break all the rules and be who I want to be. I got to where I am today from hard work and following my dreams without giving up. It definitely was not easy, I’ve worked hard and long hours to get to where I am today. I’ve overcome many challenges in my career and I’m still overcoming challenges and I think it’s something I’ll have to work through ever day. Lessons I’ve learned is to love who you are, be yourself, and don’t ever let anyone try to change you. I want to the world to know about me is that I love modeling/fashion and I work hard to accomplish my dreams. It sounds so cheesy to say but I really do believe anything is possible if you just believe in yourself.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite spots in Dallas are all over Dallas for the most part, so if my best friend was visiting I would definitely take them all over Dallas probably. I love getting smoothies and tacos at Tiki Loco, literally the best tacos I’ve ever had in my life so that’s first on the itinerary. Then I would take them to Welcome Stranger Tattoo or Elm Street Tattoo for a fun matching tattoo because who doesn’t love getting a cool tattoo with your best friend. I’m a huge animal lover and one of my favorite animals are penguins and sloths so the Dallas Aquarium is a must, my best friend would have to deal with me crying tears of joy while watching penguins and me want to hug all of the animals. Then the last stop on the itinerary would be to get desert in the bishop arts and get a slice of pie at Emporium Pies (In The Limelight is my favorite flavor!)

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Alicia Stepp Alicia Stepp is a very talented photographer that I have worked who and who has mentored me a lot through my modeling career. She’s inspired me to take risks in my career and has encouraged to keep going when I’m feeling down or scared. Alicia deserves the credit for helping me get to where I am today.
