Meet Lorena Butler | Master Stylist/ Educator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lorena Butler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lorena, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
I feel that the habits that helped me succeed are the following:
•being goal oriented
• being organized
• being a “go-getter”
• having a plan and making sure you go through with it.
• not taking the “no’s “ you get in life as a final say
• staying educated with the latest trends
All these play a key factor in determining the level of success you want to achieve.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
After being 19 years behind the chair, it was not an easy thing to get to where I am now. As a military spouse, there were many times I had to push through my cosmetology career alone. I treated my education as if it were my job, and did any and everything I could do to get extra credit hours in order to finish school faster. My brand Luxe Color by Lorena started 2 years ago when I decided to specialize in dimensional color and chemical services as well as extensions. I also broadened my horizons as a stylist by giving back as an educator at a local cosmetology school. The challenges I faced were finding the right place to work at that would respect and trust me and my individuality and creativity. As an independent stylist, I am always looking to continue to learn and share my knowledge with aspiring future stylists.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have done this before! Friends come and visit from out of state and country, and I show them a good time! Places I have taken them are Bishop Arts district in downtown Dallas, Improv comedy club in Arlington Highlands, Grand Prairie outlets, and Deep Ellum part of Dallas. Local eateries I recommend and have taken my friends are: Gloria’s in the Bishop Arts area, Cotton Patch cafe, and downtown Denton.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to take the time to thank my husband, James Butler, and my girls Ariana and Annalise Butler for supporting my goals and dreams in the career field I love. I would also like to thank my instructors I had in beauty school (those that really cared and believed in me). I would also like to thank the many family members and friends that supported me and still support my business.
