We had the good fortune of connecting with LeAnn Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LeAnn, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I truly wasn’t chasing that dream it kind of chased me and one day it all fell into place . After a conversation with my Father about an opportunity I knew in my heart it was where I was supposed to put all of my focus!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The art of dance is unique , you don’t have to be a professional dancer to love, appreciate and enjoy it ,my passion was to teach the art of dance and form a love for that in a student even if a child wouldn’t necessarily stay in dance or consider a professional career . Touching someone’s life in a positive way and having an outlet like dance can be cathartic and healing. It’s an escape to move and create to the music. Dancing brings joy…. I wanted my students to feel the same joy that dance gave me! We reached the milestone of our 40 th anniversary this year and I still cannot wrap my mind around it! Time truly did fly by. A lot of hours , late nights, weekends, and sacrifice were involved., when you own your business you never leave it when you walk out the door to go home …. It’s always with you, im always working even if it’s in your brain , choreography, a new idea, I plan the next years recital before I have finished the year I’m in . You are in a perpetual state of looking forward and planning ahead . If you work with children 3 thru 18 you have to be prepared to meet each age groups needs and you wear lots of hats, teacher, motivator, supporter, encourager, therapist, among a few! I hope I along with my staff have always made them feel valued ,loved , and respected. That is and always has been my number 1 goal! I tell my staff they should be happier leaving class than when they came in ! Learning to dance isn’t just about the steps , it’s the experience, the process, and finally the journey that leads to a stage every year for recital … my favorite time of the year! Nothing brings me more happiness than seeing the excitement in the students eyes when the curtain goes up and the show begins and they realize they are the stars !

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

I couldn’t list them all because we have grown that much , we are a treasure with the rich history and beautiful countryside.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost my parents who started me in dance and continued to support and encourage my journey! Next my lovely dance teacher and mentor Jo Murphy (Ms Jo) she took me on endless trips to conventions , dance camps and trainings to give me the best training from the best of the best! She told me anyone can be put up a shingle and teach dance you need to go and get your certification through dance educators of America. We flew to Las Vegas where I danced for the organization and took a few tests in dance history, counts of music, dance vocabulary, rhythmic steps in tap just to name a few .for 3 days. At the time i was only around 19 or 20 but even at that young age I knew it was a special achievement and I am so thankful she always pushed me to be the best I could be!
