We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauryn Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lauryn, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
Many people do not realize that there are many types of financial professionals. There are financial coaches, nonprofit organizations that can help you with your finances for free, people who sell investment products and life insurance, certified financial planners, and there are people who will charge an hourly fee to give you access to the advice you need. I think that when people think of financial planning they think, “If I am not ready to invest, then I am not ready for a financial planner”, but financial planning encompasses all aspects of your finances. You do not need to be rich to reach out for financial advice, everyone should have access to a financial planner.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I serve young professionals exclusively. I specialize in helping people with all things money from student loans, to creating a budget, and I help simplify financial planning to make it easy to understand. I also serve my clients virtually. Entrepreneurship is not easy, it can be a rollercoaster. You have to be very patient and wait for results. Having a support system is vital to help push you along even when you feel like you can’t do it anymore. You have to be willing and excited to learn and don’t be afraid to make mistakes. I have learned how to communicate effectively throughout this process, which is a major key to success. I truly believe everyone deserves access to reliable financial advice. There are very few ways to get rich quick, but many ways to get rich slowly.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In Preston Hollow, there is a really great Mexican food place called Muchacho. This would be my first restaurant spot to take a friend visiting. We would order some octopus tacos and walk around Preston Center. On another day, we would go to Simon sushi. It is a small hole in the wall sushi place, but it is some of the best you will ever find! We would also go downtown to explore and eat at Salsa Limo’n for a cheap, but yummy lunch. I would also take them to Trinity Groves and go to Cake Bar for dessert. These are super amazing, southern style cakes. Finally, I would take them to walk around Bishop Arts to check out the cool shops. In Bishop Arts, we also would stop by Emporium Pies for dessert.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my Mastermind group. It is eight other Financial Planners that are dedicated to serving young professionals. We meet weekly. Having this team beside me has been an incredible force in helping me succeed.
