We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Farmer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lauren, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Balance is one of the questions I get asked the most as a business owner / aesthetician. I am constantly being challenged on this subject with being a wife, mom of 2 boys and working full time. It has definitely been somewhat of a challenge but something I knew along time ago I wasn’t scared to face. One of the main reasons I love this industry so much is because of the flexibility we have to be full time working parents and being there for our kids every step of the way! I made it my goal years ago to make sure I picked up my boys from school and spent my evenings with my family everyday because those are the moments we will never get back. Being an Aesthetician is my absolute passion, I love going to work everyday and seeing my wonderful clients. They make doing what I do worth it and keep me working hard. They are my family as well so making time for them is also extremely important to me. “When you love what you do you never actually work a day in your life”

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started my career as an Esthetician at the age of 18. I graduated from Ogle Beauty School in Hurst, TX and immediately started working in my first spa. I spent several years learning the tricks of the trade from some wonderful women in the industry and even spent my early 20’s trying to figure out where exactly I fit into the esthetics world. I have worked everywhere from a typical day spa to medical spa and even a waxing center brushing up on my skills. I am extremely passionate about this industry that I am constantly going to trainings and learning as much as I can to stay up to date to bring my clients not only the best products and services but knowledge of the skin and how to better take care of it from the inside out. I recently decided it was time after ten years in this industry to go out on my own and open my first spa. In October 2019 Blush N Beauty Spa opened inside Salon Boutique In Dallas, TX. This was such an exciting moment for me to be able to bring my clients and future clients a space that is warm and welcoming, a place you can come relax and unwind and all the attention is on you. I researched to bring the best in facials and even worked with a Dallas based company to private label my own skincare line. I wanted a line that was chemical free but had all the active ingredients to give you the best results. My line is Vegan, Paraben & Sulfate free giving you clean ingredients that are result-driven. My journey getting to this point has not been easy but I am blessed beyond measure for the amazing family I have supporting me every step and pushing me to be better. I will continue to keep learning and working hard to build this business I love so much so that you as clients can have the absolute best experience when you come to Blush N Beauty Spa. Blush N Beauty is a place I designed for men and women to come and feel their best. I aspire that from the moment you walk into the door you feel welcomed and relaxed and leave feeling your absolute best. I offer a variety of facial services from Customized Facials, Galvanic, Microcurrent, Microdermabrasion, Oxygeneo, Laser Lipo & Dermaplane. I also offer Full Body Waxing, Lash Lifts and Tinting services. The one treatment that really sets me apart from other Esthetician’s is Plasma Fibroblast Skin Tightening. It uses plasma to shrink the skin and tighten anywhere on the body giving surgery like results without the downtime. An amazing treatment for those not wanting to go under the knife. As the owner of Blush N Beauty Spa, I am most proud of the service I provide to everyone who comes through my door. I am honored to have the most loyal clients who have helped build my business so therefore I am able to continue to bring the best in skincare.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
Dallas is one of the most exciting cities to live & work in. It’s big but still has that small town feel with hospitality. My husband and I are huge foodies and we love spending our date nights trying new places. Some of our favorite spots are Al Biernat’s, R&D Kitchen, Kenny’s Woodfire Grill & Sevy’s Grill Dallas also has amazing shopping, Northpark Mall, Galleria Mall, Highland Park Village and Preston Center which is where Blush N Beauty Spa is located.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Success does not come easy and comes with a lot of blood, sweat & tears. I started my journey as an 18 year old right out of school and lost as ever in this crazy growing industry. I honestly had no idea which route of the Esthetic industry I wanted to be in so I figured I would take my early years with really no responsibilities to discover who I was and where I fit in. I spent my first couple of years in a day spa where I met some really incredible girls who to this day still inspire me. I have watched so many of them become spa owners themselves which is really what led me to make my final decision to go out on my own. Going back a bit I found myself working as a Sales Consultant for a Medspa which is where I met my then boss and now friend / client Monica. When I first met Monica I was in my early 20s and knew nothing about sales! She must have seen something in me that I didn’t see at the time but she taught me so much about sales and this industry and how to really talk with people and I grew so much as a person and aesthetician because of her. I still tell her to this day how much she means to me! I decided to go out on my own and open Blush N Beauty Spa back in October 2019 after working with a few of the best esthetician’s I know! Mari & Mojca at Beyond Appearance became family to me. They knew me before I was married and had kids, they even helped watch my boys on the few occasions I had to bring them to work with me. The amount of knowledge I learned from working with them I’m not sure you can get anywhere else. I truly owe a lot of my success to these wonderful ladies for all the mentor ship I received. Success and wanting to be the best doesn’t come without setbacks. It comes with learning and patience and sometimes tears along the way. The amount of gratitude I have for everyone I have ever had the opportunity to work with over the years have all played such an important role in who I have become today. I love each & everyone of you!
