Meet Latricia Powell | Mother, Matriarch and Woman of Wisdom

We had the good fortune of connecting with Latricia Powell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Latricia, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
As a happy parent of four out-of-this-world children, the most important thing I’ve done as a parent in terms of impact on my children would be teaching them “integrity”….and “walking the talk” by doing it myself. I’m completely honest and transparent about every single detail of my life with my children, I let them know “it’s safe to make mistakes”. In addition, I instill in my children “the truth will set you free in more ways than one”. The truth has a way of giving as person exponential growth and this growth has a compounding effect.
If today were the last day of my existence, there’s not one person who knows more about me than my children. It’s healthy and safe to release any and all skeletons in your closet because when you narrate your own story no one or nothing can rewrite it for you.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have many entrepreneurial pursuits, my most recent investments are in intellectual property. What sets me apart from others is I incorporate my children in everything I do. I plan to have many family trusts, revocable and irrevocable. I’m most proud of recently delving into technological innovation in regard to nonprofits. More specifically, creating new apps for iOS and androids, mastering website creation and grandmaster AI.
I got to where I am today by doing what others wouldn’t do. So many people laughed at me for many of my ideas, can you believe these same people tried to imitate these same ideas? Easy? That word is yet to find a place in my life story. I haven’t had one day of just “butterflies and rainbows”, but I know they’re in my hero’s story. I overcame challenges by faith, belief, living in the end and acting as though!
The most valuable lesson I’ve learned recently is the majority of things work themselves out, I used to fight for everything alone. However, just like in a game of chess…one must know “opposition is irrelevant”.
I want people to know my story is your story. Hug a stranger, speak up for someone even if it doesn’t benefit you in anyway…pray it forward! God is love and love works in mysterious ways!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, I would go for a road trip. I love driving and traveling, period! The world and the people in it are beyond beautiful!
I would mainly stop to walk nature trails, go to book stores, eat at local and authentic restaurants because I loved home cooked food from scratch…I’m not the “wine and dine” type.
I would have them meet themselves, I would teach them self love, self expression and self acceptance! We are the most exciting people we meet, when we truly look within.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Of course! I’ve stood on the shoulders of COUNTLESS giants! Mainly, women! First, The “arc4justice.org”. These wonderful and beautiful women helped shaped my voice and encouraged my life in a multitude of ways. Next, I would say “Amanda Brake” from the Mount Pleasant Housing Commission in Michigan….what an inspiring lifesaver she is! Overall, Velma (Johnson) Roach, may she rest in heaven. Velma stood by my side against her own blood, when I was wrongfully admitted into a psychiatric hospital in 2016, it was Velma who fixed me. I asked her one simple question, “Velma, do you think I’m crazy?” She replied, “Trice, we all must get a little crazy at times!”
That changed the trajectory for my life, I miss her so! I’m faithing it until I make it!
