We had the good fortune of connecting with Latorra Garland and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Latorra, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was to create a brand doing something that I truly enjoyed and a business that I could pass on to my children and build generational wealth for my family to pass on for many generations and to break generational curses.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business PieFace Soul Cafe and Catering – a catering business that specializes in southern Soul Food.. We specialize in southern dishes made just like Sunday dinner at Grandmas House. Our goal is to bring back Sunday Dinners whereas families can get together and celebrate love and life together!! Some of my proud Accomplishments include publishing a southern dessert cookbook called “Mamas Banana Pudding” and creating a brand of seasonings called “Soul Dash Seasonings “ .my 3 signature seasonings include: “Memphis BBQ” “Cobbler Spice” and “All Purpose “ Consistency is the key to a successful business. I always listen to my clients needs and make sure I do my best to provide excellent customer service. I also respond to potential clients questions and concerns in a timely manner. Timely responses can make a difference when it comes to Landing the deal. I want the world to know that we take pride in everything we do. Customer satisfaction is our ultimate goal.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would have my friends start their Sunday at Blue Martini for Neo Soul Sundays. Brunch at at Ellen’s!!!! A visit to top golf!! Fort Worth Zoo and Fort Worth Stockyards!! Dinner at the Reunion Tower!!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First of all I want to thank my parents and grandparents for teaching me everything I know about about cooking and creating recipes that were passed down to them. I also want to thank my husband for pushing me to go hard and and to never give up on my dreams to do what I love and to never give up on my business..
