We had the good fortune of connecting with Lashella Sanders and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LaShella, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
My business is all about building a community where people can find their voice and sing their hearts out! I’m here to help singers of all levels erase those self-doubts and discover the awesome power of singing like their true selves. With personalized lessons and tons of encouragement, my studio becomes a safe space where singers can let loose, explore their vocal potential, and just have fun with singing.
As my students grow in confidence and skill, they start sharing their amazing voices with the world. Their performances, full of passion and authenticity, inspire others to embrace their own creative spark. It’s like a ripple effect spreading through the community and making it a more vibrant and connected place.
I’m not just teaching singing; I’m helping people find their voice, both on and off the stage. It’s about building confidence, expressing yourself, and connecting with others through the joy of music.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is a haven for singers seeking to break free from the chains of self-doubt and perfectionism. I offer a unique approach to vocal instruction, focusing not just on technique but also on nurturing a joyful, authentic expression that transcends the need to be flawless. It’s important to clarify that I don’t advocate for embracing imperfections as an excuse to avoid hard work. Instead, I guide students to understand that striving for excellence, rather than unattainable perfection, is the key to unlocking their full potential. Perfectionism can be paralyzing, preventing singers from taking risks and truly connecting with their music. By fostering a growth mindset and encouraging consistent practice, I empower students to reach their goals and experience the true joy of singing.
What sets me apart is this balanced approach – celebrating the unique qualities of each voice while fostering a passion for continuous learning and development. I’m most proud of witnessing the transformation in my students – as they shed the fear of making mistakes and embrace their authentic selves, their voices truly soar, reaching new heights of artistry and expression.
Building this business wasn’t always a smooth ride. There were challenges in establishing myself in a market often fixated on technical perfection. But I stayed true to my philosophy, attracting students who resonated with my message of self-acceptance, joyful singing, and a dedication to growth. I’ve learned that vulnerability and authenticity are powerful tools, both in teaching and in life. My brand is about more than just singing; it’s about embracing your unique voice, imperfections and all, and finding the courage to share it with the world while continually striving for your personal best. I want everyone to know that the joy of music lies not in flawless execution but in the freedom to express your true self and the dedication to reach your full potential, free from the constraints of perfectionism.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My amazing husband has been my absolute confidant throughout this whole journey. He’s been there from day one, cheering me on and giving me that extra push to start my own business. He’s always had my back, whether it’s lending a listening ear, pitching in wherever needed, or giving me a pep talk when running the business has gotten tough. Honestly, I wouldn’t have made it this far without his constant support and belief in me.
And of course, a massive shoutout to my vocal mentor, Justin Stoney. He’s the reason I know anything about teaching vocal techniques. His passion and guidance have been invaluable, and I’m so grateful for everything he’s taught me.
