We had the good fortune of connecting with LaQuintta Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LaQuintta, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand is God. There are many other factors but I always keep God first in everything that I do. My husband is my biggest fan and many times, I felt like giving up or maybe I should have picked a different career. Every-time he reassured me that I was created for a time as this and THIS is exactly what I’m suppose to be doing.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a Birth and Postpartum Doula. That means I support women and their family from their pregnancy all the way until weeks after their baby is born. During pregnancy I’ll have one or more prenatal visits with the mother and we’ll go over making a birth plan and just building a solid relationship. When mom goes into labor, I will be there the entire time supporting her no matter where her birth place may be or how she may be welcoming her precious baby into the world. After the birth of the baby if mom wants postpartum services, I’ll come to her home and help her with whatever she may need. From just having a listening ear to watching baby while she gets a well needed nap! I am also certified in placenta encapsulation, that’s when the mother digest her placenta in capsule form after birth! Sounds nasty, but trust me it’s very beneficial! Something that sets me apart from other Doula’s in our community is my passion. This is more than just a career for me. I absolutely love being a Doula! I love helping other women and building life long relationships with them. I’ve been through a lot of these moments that my clients are going through personally and I empathize with them! I absolutely never judge them and I always listen. That’s one of the most important parts of being a Doula is “listening”.
Becoming a Doula was pretty easy for me. Mainly because I was already a Doula before I knew there was a actual title for what I’ve been doing half of my life! Being a Doula comes natural because I don’t have to pretend to love what I’m doing, I actually do!
The most exciting part about being a Doula is watching a mother go from thinking she can’t do something to knowing she can! Watching a mother go from scared to confident! Then seeing her with a her precious newborn baby is rewarding all by itself!
The biggest lesson I’ve learned in being a Doula is that every mother is different. Pregnancy and birth puts a women in a very vulnerable state and all I want to do is make that situation as comfortable and easy as possible.
Something that I want the world to know about me and my brand is that I share my heart with every single person I meet. I have two children myself and I know the ups and downs of motherhood. I’m here to serve you and make this thing called life a little bit easier.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If you were to spend a week with me this is how it would go! First off breakfast! My current favorite thing to eat for breakfast is crepe’s! Some of the top crepe’s in North Dallas so far to me is T-Swirl crepe’s! I am not a fan of the savory ones, I like the ones with strawberries and cream! Next I’d find a nice indoor place to go because it’s extremely hot here! My favorite mall is grapevine mall, so we would probably go do a little bit of shopping! After all of that walking and trying on things it’s time to eat again! My next top favorite thing to eat is tacos! There’s sooo many options for tacos in Texas but my current favorite spot is Velvet Taco! By then hopefully it has cooled down a little bit, but probably not! I would head to Legacy West! I love all of the scenery and there’s so many great areas to take pictures there. We would just enjoy the area maybe get some ice cream! A great ice cream spot at legacy west is Amorino! Another one of my top favorite foods are Indian food. There are endless Indian restaurants here as well and not one has disappointed me yet! I am a big family person so by this time I’m probably missing my kids, so we would head home for fun movie night or game night with my family!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost I want to honor God because without Him none of this would be possible. Secondly, I give credit to my awesome husband! My husband has supported me when I didn’t even support myself. If I told my husband right now that I wanted to go to school to become a surgeon he would be all for it and support me 1000% but that’s not my story! I would also love to honor my spiritual parents who gave me the confidence that I could do anything that I put my mind to, and gave me the last push I needed to follow my dreams Apostle Johnathan and Prophet Amanda Ferguson. Lastly, I just want to recognize all of my family and friends that showed me becoming a Doula was what I was destined to be. Everyone that let me attend their births and told me how awesome of a mother I am. Each and every person that looks to me for advice through motherhood. I appreciate each and everyone of you!
