We had the good fortune of connecting with Kyndra Outlaw and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kyndra, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Consistency. I attribute my success to how consistent I have been over the past few years. Atmospheric Home Staging is a service based business, therefore the success is rooted in our continuous ability to deliver quality services and results. Overtime I have consistently improved my portfolio, taken on larger projects, and scaled the business. I’ve worked on my skills, focused on the trends, and done the industry research. Building a brand is a long game, I’ve had to take risks when I wanted to play safe and remain patient and consistent to play the long game. My success and growth of the brand is a direct correlation of my consistent goals and willingness to be persistent in my projects.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Atmospheric Home Staging is a Dallas, Texas based home staging company, helping homes sell quickly and for top dollar. Home staging is the act of visually preparing a property for sale in the real estate market. I wanted to create this company to bring a custom design approach to the home staging market in the Dallas/ Ft. Worth metroplex. I saw an opportunity to create a business with an emphasis on design with our installations showcasing interior design techniques and bold home staging. I began to create home staging projects with beautiful interiors featuring a fresh new approach to home-staging and out-of-the-box designs. I was recognized in the industry as providing a service and style that was fresh, on-trend, modern, and different. In 2021, I was voted Top Ten Best Vacant Home Stager of the year USA 2021 by Real Estate Staging Association. We specialize in vacant home staging services, so I focus on creating lifestyle environments with attention to detail. We own all of our inventory including furniture, artwork, linens, and accessories used in each project. Owning our staging inventory allows us to offer on-trend furnishings, quality home staging rentals, and varying styles.

I received my Master of Science degree in Merchandising from The University of North Texas then began my career at a home furnishings company in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area on the design team. My love for home staging started there; as I was working on a photo shoot of a vacant property. A real estate agent hinted at how the photoshoot items should be left styled to help sell the home since the home was previously vacant. That’s where the idea of opening a home staging company began—then, I quit my job on a whim. Entrepreneurship has not been easy, but it has definitely been rewarding. There have been many mistakes and lots of hard work, but the best way to overcome the challenge is to learn a lesson from the challenge. Some of the lessons were to know your target market, have proper systems and processes on the backend to make the business flow, and know your numbers in order to be profitable.

Each of my staging projects speak to the property’s unique selling points and style. I’m excited about upcoming projects, new opportunities, and continuing to master the art of home staging.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I really enjoy hanging out in the Fair Park area for a nice change of scenery. I’m a season ticket holder to Broadway Dallas as I like to enjoy musicals at Music Hall. Dinner is always delicious at Las Almas Rotas, followed by drinks at Whiskeys or Craft and Growler, then dancing at Sandaga. The State Fair of Texas is always a big hit in the fall, especially for some of the best food vendors, creative arts, and entertainment. I’ve seen some amazing artists perform live at the Dos Equis Pavilion, including Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Schoolboy Q, and Willie Nelson. If my family is coming to town, I make sure a trip to the African American Museum of Dallas is planned since it’s amazing no matter the time of year.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
If anyone else deserves credit for the success of AHS, it’s my family and friends. They have been so supportive throughout my journey of building my own brand.

I’ve had to lean on them for encouragement, support, and even behind the scenes help. As an entrepreneur, it is so important to have a strong network and I know I wouldn’t be this successful without my biggest cheerleaders’ motivation. I would simply like to dedicate my shoutout to my family and friends for contributing to my success.
