We had the good fortune of connecting with Albie Robles and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Albie, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
Most people assume that it is an easy job. Producing a solid, professional recording, you need to be trained on mic technique, delivery, then you also have to be an audio engineer as well. Many clients expect to receive audio that has been processed properly and is ready to go.

But that’s all the least of it, because most of your time is not spent recording. It is mostly marketing and auditioning.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
While I am primarily a voice actor, I do other audio-related jobs as well. I ‘m a sound mixer/boom op for productions, and I do Foley and some editing as well. I also do a bit of audio engineer work for others, particularly for audiobooks.

Of course, there is also the Scare Me Podcast. That came from my lifelong love of horror and that feeling of getting creeped out. As soon as I realized that nothing does that as much as hearing people’s personal paranormal encounters. That’s when I realized that I could create a platform where people can tell me their stories, and then I can share that experience with others.

Getting into the audio business, whether it is voiceover or sound mixing, is a pretty steep learning curve. There is a lot to learn about equipment and software.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Mockingbird Station is a great place to go because you have a few great restaurants, as well as the Angelica movie theater, and also a comedy club. I also love going to the Bishop Arts District for its restaurants, and of course, Emporium Pies.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’ll dedicate this shoutout to my fellow riffers at Mocky Horror Picture Show, the great crew at Squeaky Door Pictures, and my talented wife, who writes incredible childrens’ books under the name Julie Jupiter.
