We had the good fortune of connecting with Kiera M. Hill and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kiera M., we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I had the initial idea to start my business in 2017, it was months after receiving my master’s degree. After being overworked and underpaid, I realized almost 6 months in that I eventually wanted to work for myself. I had several thoughts when starting my business. The first was creating a plan to build generational wealth and second choosing an industry that I was passionate about. I wanted to start something that I had a connection to, to make work not feel like work. I have a passion for beauty, hair, and all things related. I started my business after being diagnosed with alopecia. I was inspired to fill the void in the hair extension industry with a knowledgeable and customer orientated business. Entering the ever growing Billion-dollar hair industry was a no brainer.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

I am currently in the Mental Health field. I have a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Counselor Education. I am currently a Nationally Certified Counselor. I am also currently working towards a third degree in Healthcare Administration. School has always been easy for me and something that I enjoyed. I entered the field of Health Care with the hopes to make a difference in the lives of adolescents. My first job after the completion of my master’s was a Child Therapist. It was tough yet rewarding. Although my professional career is unrelated to my business of selling hair, there are transferable skills that help me navigate through both.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting for a week, they would know I’m all about relaxing. I would book us a spa day, including a massage or a mani/pedi. Throw in some activities like bowling or visit a museum. A day at home to binge watch a good show. Followed by a chic bar and popular restaurant in the DFW. Ending our week with Sunday Funday at a good brunch spot in Dallas!
