We had the good fortune of connecting with Khadijah Torbert and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Khadijah, what inspires you?
I’m mainly inspired by my faith. Everything down to motives, intentions, and the way I treat people stems from my upbringing as a follower of Christ. I truly believe that my becoming and evolving is due to the way I was raised and my christian background.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Khadijah is a native of Opelika, Alabama and currently lives in Tuscaloosa or ‘Title Town’. She graduated Cum Laude from Troy University in 2016 where she double majored in Broadcast Journalism and Business Administration. She obtained her Master’s Degree in Sports Business Management from the University of Alabama in May 2019. Prior to making her way to Tuscaloosa, Khadijah was a News Producer and Sideline Sports Reporter at WKRG News 5 in Mobile, Alabama where she worked for two years. Before joining their news team, she held an internship with WFLA in Tampa, Florida. Khadijah is also active in the community, working as a volunteer with Temporary Emergency Services and a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and National Association of Black Journalist (NABJ). In her spare time, Khadijah loves traveling, checking out new restaurants, journaling and spending time with her family and friends.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Young Ladies of Integrity, community outreach organization ministry. This organization was pivotal in my becoming of who I am. It was there through the ministry where we learned our value as young ladies, and how to live with integrity. I can’t say enough how much I am thankful for the mentors guidance and their leadership. The CEO, Serita Jackson had a vision to encourage and instill worthiness into young ladies age 13-18. Those years being apart of this community outreach has made all the difference, forever grateful for the organization.
