We had the good fortune of connecting with Kathy McCommon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kathy, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Beginning in 1993 because of a multitude of personal health issues, I learned how to navigate the holistic world. I was mentored by some of the highest trained holistic healers in the world.  In 1998 I was diagnosed with cancer and chose a world-renowned Dallas naturopath who taught me that the life of the body is in the blood, clean up the blood and you can clean up your health.  In 2005 my health education took another leap when I began to understand food signatures. Understanding food signatures gives a broader understanding of how our bodies are nourished and how we can maintain optimum health. Holistic medicine has been my optimal health choice all of my adult life.  20 years ago, as my young family began to grow into adulthood, I asked for my soul’s purpose and how I was to contribute to humanity.  It became clear, as I enrolled in various healing studies, that becoming a safe harbor for those seeking holistic healing would fulfill my soul’s path. The realization of my own unique intuitive gifts combined with my experience in the holistic world would provide a strong platform to support others in their own healing journey.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
As I pursued the field of holistic healing I was often taken into new and unchartered areas. Areas that I knew little about.  I boldly went forward knowing that the path I was taking was divinely ordained for my soul’s purpose.  As I considered what my business model would be, I thought of Whole Holistic Wellness. Being a woman and taking this journey as a woman, I felt that I could best serve women.  I was and am challenged by the marketing aspects of my business.  As I was being a wife and mother the world of marketing moved into a technology world that I had to learn.  Most of my business has been created through referrals.  Social media platforms have allowed me to share who I am to a broader audience.   Four years ago, my business coach recommended that I move my business to a Skype or Zoom platform, which I did. This allowed me to service clients from all over the world. I was grateful in 2020 that I had made the choice to move my business to a virtual platform since this has become the platform for many businesses.     I have discovered that most women want to be healthy and fit.  They want to do it in a way that is easy and fits into their lives.  They do not want fad diets and exhausting early morning bootcamps.  Many women already have a general idea of what they need but are either confused as to where to begin,  need accountability or both.  Some have been on the allopathic hamster wheel with no real solutions in sight for far too many years.   I offer a personalized approach to their health.  An approach where we determine the exact foods, supplements, exercise program and lifestyle adjustments that can be incorporated for a lifetime.  They learn to listen to their body’s voice.  And yes, our bodies have voices.   Have you ever eaten and afterward felt fatigued, anxious or out of sorts?  This is your body communicating with you.  Have you tried to do an early morning bootcamp with your girlfriend and felt exhausted and maybe even came down with an infection, but your girlfriend thrives?  You may be a blood type that exercises best at 11am in the form of yoga.   As women we tend to compare ourselves with each other in areas that should always reflect our uniqueness not our sameness.    My long-term goal is to not only impact one generation of women but multiple generations with the keys to healthy vibrant living.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in East Texas and travel between DFW and East Texas. I grew up in East Texas and am most familiar with the uniqueness of this area. The first place I like to take visitors is Caddo Lake in Uncertain, TX.  I have a childhood friend who takes families and groups on day or night rides on this beautiful natural lake. The next place I like to take visitors is Jefferson, TX.   Jefferson, TX is an old historical town with what some say, a haunted hotel The Excelsior House.   The Excelsior House is the oldest hotel in Texas. Some of their guest include Ulysses S. Grant, Oscar Wilde, Rutherford B. Hayes, Lady Bird Johnson, Steven Spielberg and more.  Local East Texas restaurants are always a treat because of the many family-owned business scattered through-out the Piney Woods. Anyone’s food preferences may find pure delight.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
In 2005 I began mentoring through a Holistic Chiropractic Clinic in Tyler, Texas, Aloha Peace Sanctuary.  I mentored at this clinic under two doctors, Dr. Clifford Mullins and Dr. Ram, for 7 years.  Two of those years I worked directly in the clinic. In 2012 I studied under Dr. Phillip Rogers and was certified as a Reiki Master and Essential Oil Therapist. In this same year I enrolled in the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in New York in order to receive my Integrative Health Coaching license. In 2017 I studied under Dr. Kerry Lexington and received my certification as a medical intuitive.  With the completion of this certification my business model became more focused on clients who had been unsuccessfully seeking health answers and were ready to look at options that considered not only their full health history but their emotional and relationship history with both themselves and others.  Our health is not only determined by the physical manifistations we experience but even more so by the beliefs that we have about our health.  These beliefs have been formed about us and our world since childhood.  Exploring these beliefs can allow not only a physical healing but also an emotional healing.   My elite Total Whole Wellness, is a 6 month program.   You may schedule a 1 hour Health Strategy session at https://wholeholisticwellness.as.me/Health4U
