We had the good fortune of connecting with Jourie Dyer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jourie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
In 2018, I battled acne for the first time ever in my life. I tried every product imaginable but nothing seemed to work. I began reading books about the amazing benefits of herbs/plants and decided I would make my own soap. I was able to clear up my hormonal acne and even get rid of dark spots by the end of 2019. After seeing my results I decided to turn my hobby into a hustle and I created Jourie Natural Soap Co.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Skin is the body’s largest organ and it absorbs any and everything that you put on it. And seeing how many products at the local stores have chemicals, dyes, and other weird ingredients really set me on a path to using simple, natural, and organic ingredients in my bath and body products. My goal from the beginning was to create soaps that are safe for everyone, from babies to those battling severe cases of eczema. When I became knowledgeable about herbs, plants, essential oils, etc. and seeing that I actually healed myself, I knew I could heal my community as well.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I really enjoy walking and biking on the trail at White Rock Lake, it has an 11 mile long trail and a lot of amazing views. Brunching at Yardbird is definitely one of my favorites at the moment. Deep Ellum has a lot of fun to offer, especially for the night life when it’s time to turn up. I also love to shop, my favorite places to go in the city are North Park and the Galleria.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shoutout to my loving family. They have been SUPER supportive from the very beginning and have definitely pushed me to keep going even during hard times.
