We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, why did you pursue a creative career?
My name is Jessica Smith and I own Southern Rose Beauty+Brows LLC. I am a certified makeup artist and have been doing event styling and wedding artistry for over 21 years now. I am also a licensed cosmetic pigmentation specialist experienced in microblading, powder brow and combo brow application, 3D areola application, scalp micropigmentation, permanent eyeliner, lip blushing as well as being a laser technician in tattoo removal.
I travel all over the U.S. for special events and wedding styling as well as operate in my hometown of Midlothain Texas.

My love for art began as a young girl and morphed into a love of makeup and feeling your best in the most natural way possible which then took me to the permanent makeup industry.

I love helping women look and feel their best and letting their natural beauty shine even brighter

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The beauty industry is a hard industry to get established in but once you do it’s an amazing industry to be a part of. It takes hard work, long hours, dedication to the craft and I can never press enough, practice practice practice!
I can never stress enough the importance of continuing education in this ever evolving industry.
A passion for people and an empathic nature is paramount for these intimate and permanent procedures. Making my clients calm, comfortable and thrilled with their new looks is incredibly important to me.
So many of my amazing clients have become dear friends.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Downtown Waxahachie where my salon is located is a quaint and adorable little town knows as the crepe Myrtle capital of the world! It the best stop for antiques, boutiques and of course Beauty! A stay at the English Merchants Inn is a memory you won’t soon forget! Hospitality and tradition runs through the veins of our community.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have had the opportunity to mentor under some amazing artists over the years and also partner with other businesses such as Life’s Enchanted Moments LLC and Tru Love Salons collabing with amazing women and fellow artists.
