Meet Jennifer Ann Warner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Ann Warner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jennifer Ann, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for my daily vlog, Just A Typical Day Of Trucking, originally came from a simple desire to share what was happening in our lives on the road with family and friends. My husband, Harry, and I have been team trucking partners since July of 2021. Our trusty trucker dog, Fred, joined our family two years later in July of 2023. As long-haul truck drivers, our lives are so dynamic and full of stories. This motivated me to give our loved ones a glimpse into our everyday experiences.
What started as a way to stay connected has gradually grown into something bigger. One day, a friend of mine helped me to realize that the unique perspective I was sharing could resonate with a much wider audience – drivers and non-drivers alike. Since then, my vlog has evolved into a platform where I can shine a light on the realities of Trucking, provide insights and humor, (courtesy of Fred), and connect with an incredible community. However, the heart of JATDOT has always been and will always be the storytelling, looking back at the end of each day through the images we captured and the memories we made.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My Work and What Sets Me Apart:
My vlog aims to give a driver’s eye view into the world of professional driving – from the daily grind and unique challenges to the breathtaking views and uplifting moments.
What sets me apart is the way I strive to blend storytelling, educational content, and humor, making it relatable and insightful not just for the seasoned truckers, but for anyone curious about the industry. The videos that spotlight Fred, like PAWS And Reflect, add a special touch, combining wag-worthy wisdom with a sense of fun that resonates with viewers.
What I’m Most Proud Of/Excited For:
I am incredibly proud of how the vlog has grown into a space where I can connect with people from all walks of life. Whether it’s fellow drivers who find comfort and relatability in the stories, or non-drivers who gain a newfound appreciation for the trucking industry and the challenges we face on the road, this platform bridges gaps and fosters understanding. It has been amazing to inspire, educate, and even bring laughter to such a diverse audience. Another highlight of this journey has been this invitation from ShoutoutDFW to contribute to their feature on inspiring entrepreneurs and creators. It is a validation of the hard work that has been poured into creating something that resonates far beyond the trucking world.
Looking ahead, I am thrilled about the opportunity to expand upon this vision through new creative ventures. Currently, I am working on several resources for truckers, guides and ebooks focusing on topics like resilience, defensive driving, and inspiration. Additionally, we’re getting ready to launch The 34!, a YouTube podcast that will take listeners on the road with us during our 34 hour resets. It will be an exciting way to share life as a truck driver while building a deeper connection with the community.
How Did I Get To Where I Am Professionally:
My professional journey has been anything but conventional, and every chapter has uniquely shaped where I am today.
For over 20 years, I ran my own private music studio as a private instructor, where I utilized my love for teaching, entrepreneurship, and connecting with others. While this chapter didn’t directly relate to trucking, it planted the seeds for skills that would later serve me in unexpected ways.
In 2016, I earned my CDL to start driving a school bus. What began as a practical decision soon became a passion. I was promoted to a trainer and later joined the safety department where I found immense fulfillment in empowering others and ensuring compliance – a theme that has followed me throughout my career.
In 2021, my husband Harry asked me to join him on the road as his co-driver and I made the bold decision to step away from my established path. I upgraded my license to a Class A, and we’ve been trucking as a team ever since. That leap of faith became the cornerstone for this incredible creative opportunity as well as others to come.
Today, I combine all of my experiences to create content that is entertaining and enlightening. It has been my goal that my work reflects my belief in the power of education, empowerment, and connection, and if I, or Fred, can make you smile as well, that’s just an added bonus. Every step, no matter how unrelated it appeared at first glance, has built the foundation for a career that aligns with my passion and values.
Overcoming Challenges:
The life of a professional driver is difficult enough with long hours, unpredictable schedules, and the physical and emotional demands of the road. As a woman in a predominantly male industry, stepping into trucking wasn’t about just learning the ropes – it was about challenging perceptions and proving that determination knows no gender. Adding to that, starting a new career in my 50’s presented its own unique set of challenges. It required a willingness to embrace growth and a commitment to defy expectations, both of society and myself.
Lessons Learned Along The Way:
Looking back, my journey has been filled with lessons that have shaped not only my career but my perspective in life.
The Value of Adaptability: Life rarely unfolds in a straight line. But each pivot, no matter how different it seemed, brought new opportunities to learn and thrive.
The Power of Taking Risks: Everyone, myself included, needs a reminder that growth often comes from stepping into the unknown with faith and courage.
Resilience Through Challenges: Whether it’s navigating the ups and downs of a creative project or learning the ropes of a new industry, challenges are part of the process. Each one has taught me to stay patient and trust in the greater plan.
The Beauty of Collaboration: From working closely with drivers, trainers, and my husband Harry on the road of course, I have discovered how meaningful partnerships can transform not only work, but life itself.
Faith As A Guiding Force: I have always believed that moments of inspiration and direction are placed in our lives for a reason. My faith has been a constant guide, providing clarity when life feels overwhelming and grounding me through every twist and turn on the road.
The Importance of Creativity: Even in trucking, creativity has been a thread that ties everything together. Whether it’s producing a vlog or podcast, or writing ebooks and resources, thinking outside the box has added joy and meaning to my work and, I hope, to those who have enjoyed my efforts.
What Do I Want The World To Know:
Through my vlog as well as all the other creative endeavors, not only am I sharing our adventures, but I want to demonstrate that it’s never too late to rewrite your story, nor is there a mold you have to fit to succeed. The road forward is always paved by resilience, faith, and a belief in the possibilities ahead.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As professional drivers, our time in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, as well as just about everywhere else, has often been limited to time spent on quick resets and loads pick-ups.
However, we did discover an amazing local spot, Old Hag’s Pizza and Pasta, which quickly became our go-to for take out (since we are originally from New Jersey, we know a thing or two about Italian food). Their mozzarella sticks, salads, pizza and spaghetti with marinara are the real deal and always found their way to our truck whenever we were in the area. Also, their food brought a long sought sense of comfort that we treasured during those fleeting moments of downtime.
If we were to plan the perfect itinerary for a visit, besides a hearty meal at Old Hag’s, we would aspire to explore the iconic Fort Worth Water Gardens which looks like the perfect place to recharge. For some time spent in discovery, we would enjoy visiting the Perot Museum of Nature and Science and explore all the exhibits. Then, we would indulge our curiosity with the Museum of Illusions. For a touch of adventure, we would head to the Fort Worth Zoo, ranked among the best in the nation to admire its diverse wildlife and enjoy a bit of fun and learning. Finally, no stop would be complete without embracing cowboy culture at the Fort Worth Stockyards, where imagining the energy of the cattle drives and rodeos makes us smile.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Above all, I am so grateful to God for his perfect plan. If you had told me five years ago that I would be driving a truck with my husband back and forth across the country AND creating a vlog about it that thousands of people watch, it would have been hard to believe. But, that’s what faith is all about.
I need to thank my husband, Harry, for sharing his decades of trucking experience with me and for asking me to share this experience with him. And to Fred for being the most amazing copilot, supervisor, and all-around driving buddy we could ever want.
Next, to all of my family and friends who have so lovingly given support and encouragement, there aren’t enough words to express my gratitude.
Finally, to all our viewers and subscribers, thanks so much for being a part of this amazing journey with us, and as always, stay tuned.
