We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennie Ordaz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennie, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
One of my favorite quotes is: “If it were easy, everyone would do it.” It’s not your typical positive motivational quote, but it always reminds me that through hardship comes great reward. It helps me get through the harder days where I feel like giving up and reminds me to look forward to the better ones coming. Nothing special comes easy, and even if a lot of people are doing what you’re doing, no one can do it like you can.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am most proud of the fact that I found a balance of being both a stay at home mom for my kids and becoming my own boss and starting a business that solely thrives off of my hard work and ambition for betterment. It was not easy of course, just like any other business or trade that requires years of practice and training. It took a while to find a good balance between both huge aspects of my life but the real test that was the hardest to overcome was to have patience and faith in the journey that it would one day settle and grow. It was always a fight between either pushing myself harder to do more or just relaxing and letting things that were meant to be come on it’s own. I want everyone to know that when things get hard, you just have to keep going and push through what will only be a phase in the grand scope of things.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love doing physical activities and eating for fun! I would take her ax throwing where we could try a new and upcoming activity, enjoy a few drinks, and get competitive. After that, I would take her to get our grub on; preferably a more laid back and relaxed meal where we don’t have to think too much about the environment and can just enjoy our food and company, like some tacos!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband Carlos has been a big motivating factor in my career! He is my biggest supporter and cheerleader. I would have quit my first year of doing hair if it were not for him pushing me to pursue it despite the odds I was against.
