We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaycie Casso and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jaycie, is there something you believe many others might not?
“A jack of all trades is a master of none.” I find this “conventional” advice fallacious and discouraging. We weren’t created to pursue just one thing in life. As a cosmetologist, makeup artist and photographer, I have many trades and I plan to master them all. I believe if you are passionate about something and you put all your effort into it then you should be able to achieve any goals you set. The more the merrier is more my style. In my areas of expertise I have learned how to use the knowledge and skills developed from each industry and apply them to different work scenarios. Doing the things you’re good at is a great way to build up your confidence and develop a go-getter attitude. With a wide enough variety of skills, you could always be doing something you’re good at, constantly boosting your confidence no matter what you’ve set your mind to. It’s ok to Wear different hats. Cultivate multiple capabilities in yourself.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My previous interview was all about my Salon business.. Since then, I have developed a strong passion for photography. I’ll start with saying that Photography came to me at a time when I needed it most – it was like walking right into what I was created to do, only I had no idea that’s what I was heading into. It fit me, my personality, and my artistic strengths. It has me constantly thinking, changing, growing and it makes me feel alive to know that tomorrow will never be the same as today. I firmly believe each person was created to use their specific abilities and passions to bless others, no matter the industry. I say that because I’m not just a photographer but I’m also a seasoned hairstylist and makeup artist. I was blessed with many talents and I am forever thanking God for that. I’m a 32 year old East Texan born and raised. (yes I say YALL a lot).. Im also a Dog Mom, a Wife, and an Aunt to 7 gorgeous tiny Humans. I love living life in the moment and I’m soo excited to see what the future holds.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I were to plan a fun filled week in the Dallas area with my best friend who had never visited, I would start with taking them to lunch. Most likely it would my favorite hidden secret… Winners BBQ! Hands down the best in Texas in my opinion. I always get the loaded chicken BBQ potato. Its family owned and ran and is just to die for.
For a fun night out I would take them to Sherlocks Pub in Addison to listen to some live music and dance. Petes Piano bar is a close contender. The dueling piano players are soo much fun to watch and interact with. For a low-key relaxing day I would take them to The Dough Dough for the most delicious cookie dough with chocolate milk shots.
Then Lunch at Glorias Mexican Cuisine and shopping at the Willow Bend Mall, or ice skating at the Galleria. For a fun day and night excursion I would take my best friend to the Fort Worth stock yards where we can sight see during the day and bar hop at night. There are sooo many options in Dallas but these are a few of my favorite places.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I can’t think of anyone more deserving of a shoutout than my sweet Mother! She is always encouraging me and not once has doubted me. I can honestly say that I would not be as successful with any of my business ventures if it weren’t for her. She has always given me the confidence to face this world head on, be my quirky self, never change and to always stay positive. You see, my mother hasn’t had the easiest go at life, she is a 3 time cancer survivor. Her unwavering faith has allowed her to overcome her obstacles with a smile on her face, not once complaining, That’s what motivates me to work harder. Because of her I push harder and always strive to keep advancing in my career. Mom, if you’re reading this, thank you for always being my number one supporter. I love you.
