We had the good fortune of connecting with Jay and Jen Mercado and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jay and Jen, how does your business help the community?
The way our business helps the community is by giving kids from elementary from pre-k to college a free pair of sneakers. The way we do it is by accepting donations at our brick and mortar.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At JNJ’S we have tons of unique items from 1980’s, 1990s and current. Stuff we grew up enjoying as kids and that’s what sets us apart.

We are most proud of having a place where young high school and young college students all have a place where they can be themselves, have fun and feel welcomed always.

Extreme hard work and pure dedication to our craft and what we love doing and there is always will be ups and downs no matter what when you are an entrepreneur but the main thing is to keep trying and going no matter what.

Some of the lessons we have learned over the years is that there is always adversity that you are going to face but facing adversity head on and not giving up is how you succeed.

That we started this business with $1.00.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
All the awesome resale shops in our area.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost the good lord has blessed us in so many ways. Also a shout out to the community that has always pushed us and encouraged us. A special credit goes to our children who push us the hardest.
