We had the good fortune of connecting with Janet Travis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Janet, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Creating has always been like oxygen to me. When I took the leap in my early ‘40’s to actually pursue art as a career, I found that it not only fulfilled me, but my passion and drive also inspired my children to view their own world in a different light, with endless possibilities as to what their future could hold for them. As rewarding as writing my first short film and seeing the finished production win awards at various festivals was, watching the reaction from my children as they realize any dream they have is actually possible was the greatest feeling ever. Bringing characters to life and telling important and compelling stories and striving to turn dreams into reality is one legacy I am proud to leave to my children.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have always wanted to act, but life took a different turn for me and I became a Latin teacher, wife, & a mom the first half of my adult life. But with the incredible support and encouragement of my loving husband, I was able to finally live my dream after 40. It is never to late to do the thing that sets your heart on fire! Just jump in!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
