We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamie Susslin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamie, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
My affirmation, or daily mantra, would be “Go for it!” I have always been passionate about my goals in life. Despite any challenges or obstacles I have faced, I haven’t given up on my dreams. The saying, “Go for it” has been a constant source of inspiration and motivation for me. It reminds me to stay focused on my goals and to never give up, no matter how difficult the journey may be.

I have always been passionate about writing. When I was a young child, I wrote a poem titled “Go for It.” The saying resonated with me as much then as it does now. Here it is.

Fight for what you want and don’t ever give in,
because if you keep on striving, you are bound to win.

Reach out for your goals and hold you head up high.
Nothing is unreachable. Let your ambitions fly.

Give it everything you’ve got and don’t hold back.
Your determination can fulfill all the strengths you lack.

If you fall short in what you want to do,
try, try again, and it will come to you.

Keep on reaching higher and don’t ever quit.
You know you can make it if you go for it.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a licensed Realtor® based in Northern California. I am a Life Member of the Masters Club which puts me in the top 10-20% of Realtors® in my area. Getting there wasn’t easy. I began my career in real estate in 2007, just when the market experienced a devastating drop. I took the time to learn as much about my craft as I could so that I could exceed in my chosen profession. That learning certainly paid off. The real estate market is ever changing, and I seek to learn something new every day.

I am also a retired police officer, and a former model and television host. My careers have certainly been varied. They all have taken special forms of expertise. I have never shied away from a challenge and learning.

When I decided to write my book, A BiDography: The Life & (Crazy) Times of Cool Hand Luke, I had so much to learn about writing, editing, formatting and publishing. The idea to write a book and actually doing it are very different. The learning curve is steep, but I had the desire, inspiration and drive to push forward. I’m so glad I did. You can’t let doubt or inexperience get in the way of your goals. Just go for it like I did.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Northern California has so much to offer. We are close to beaches, mountains, cities, lakes, you name it. The weather here is exceptional in my opinion. A visit to Lake Tahoe will never disappoint. San Francisco is a foodies dream. There are restaurants with fare from all over the world. Carmel and Monterey are stunning with their white sand beaches and art galleries. The Mendocino coastline is spectacular. The drive along Highway 1 is like no other and will take your breath away. A visit to the many wineries in Napa and Sonoma is a must if you enjoy great wines. You’d have to come back again and again to Northern California in order to experience all it has to offer.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband, for his unwavering support of my endeavors. My editor, Deborah Arnold, an author of several books herself, for her priceless assistance and encouragement along the way. The dogs who have graced me with their presence throughout my life, and fellow pet owners who have shared their common experiences with me. Last but certainly not least, Cool Hand Luke, who was the ultimate inspiration for my book.
