We had the good fortune of connecting with Ja’Kobe Pierson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ja’Kobe, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Honestly for me the Idea of working a job I didn’t truly have a burning passion for would be nothing but a waste of time. I only get to live this life once so I decided that with this life I’m going to do any and everything I can to make it a good one and working for someone else making their dreams come true when I could be working on making my own dreams come true just didn’t sit well with me.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
For Photography I Love capturing emotions and telling a story with a single image. The feeling you get after delivering amazing photos you look of a client and their reaction is absolutely priceless. I started photography and videography about 3 years ago and it was a very slow start for me but through hardworking and supportive parents I was able to quit my day job and reallyProgress at my craft. It defiantly wasn’t easy and film making and photography isn’t for the faint of heart if you don’t truly have a Passion for it it’ll be hard to maintain your skill level. Along my journey to get where I am currently I’ve learned a few things and the biggest being don’t cut corners its easy to pick up a camera and press a button and deliver that to someone but to make content that’ll really move people and make you stand out takes time. Another lesson I’ve learned is everyone is different and just because you’re not getting a million likes on Instagram doesn’t mean your work isn’t good. I would love to tell the world that there is beauty in everything it just takes time and the right attitude to find it and also everyone shines in their own time. You are you for a reason if you work hard and never give up on your dream the goals you set for yourself can be achieved
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would defiantly take them to all my favorite restaurants like Gens Korean BBQ And Pho Bac A stroll down some of my favorite trails and Downtown Dallas of course Spend our downtime watching some anime because anime is awesome And defiantly Hit a few skateparks to land some cool tricks before they go back home
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Perez Photography Deserves a Ton of credit considering they got me into photography in the first place and put me in a position to work on my craft while be paying they’re amazing My Parents of course for letting me follow my dreams and not telling me I couldn’t do it even once
