We had the good fortune of connecting with Jade Marie Patek and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jade Marie, why did you pursue a creative career?
Playing and creating music is my passion and I absolutely love it. I’m a very driven and competitive individual and I love putting myself out there and just trying things. I knew I loved creating music and performing for people, so that was the direction I wanted to take. I love being my own boss. I talked to tons of people in the industry, attended seminars and just tried new things once I decided to get into the music business. I never want to wonder “what if” when it comes to giving the music business a go.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am so proud to be the granddaughter of the Polka Legend Joe Patek. That is where I got my love for music along with my dad who showed us many genres growing up. My music sounds like a mixture of all of those I grew up on, with my own flare to it. Country Soul Meets Southern Rock. I got where I am today by never being scared of being told no, by not being shy, and for always going after what I want and never wondering “what if”. Was it easy? Definitely not. It was hard on a lot of things: my social life, love life, my bank account, etc. But I kept my head down and worked really hard and hustled for as much extra money as I could to make my dream a reality. I wouldn’t trade any of it for the world. The lessons I’ve learned along the way are to stay true to who I am, I can’t please everyone, never be scared to ask questions, and always be working at the craft. Always be playing, always be writing. I want everyone to know that I am the face of perseverance. I’ve done everything as indie as possible and paid for everything on my own. I book my own shows, I network, and I do it all because I love it and because I know that I will always be my own best employee. Also, that music is in my veins and I’m telling my story how I want to and I hope I relate to others and touch their hearts.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d take them to Deep Ellum to eat, drink and listen to live music. I’d also take them to visit the JFK Museum and try to catch a Rangers or Cowboys game!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shout out to my family and my best friends for always believing in my crazy dream to pursue playing music.
