We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacklynn Lomeli and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jacklynn, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting your own business can always be nerve-racking, but its a risk you have to take. I kept thinking how worth it it all was in the end if it went well or didn’t for me; and the only way to know was to take the leap. I’m glad that I did.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My love and passion behind the lens, where do I even begin? Where do I start. Its my happy place, my escape from life & problems on a gloomy day. To be the one to capture memories for everyone that will last them a lifetime, means the world to me. Having them book me, whether a session or event, gives me the possession to give them the ultimate experience with me, my photos & the experience that comes behind making these memories. I love leaving imprints in my work and their hearts, forever. How I pursue myself on social media, an open book with myself & life, is exactly how I am in person. I make sure to make you laugh, have a good time & even dance & sing with you on your wedding day! I leave every session & wedding with a tight hug from my clientele, even their parents! I make sure I become more than just your vendor on wedding day, I’m part of the family; as well as for my sessions. I’m at my busiest, and I can’t say my best, because we never stop learning or growing! I’ve grown SO much, as well as learned so much in myself & my business. The most outstanding part of having my own business is overcoming so many obstacles & challenges. Its a constant reminder that this isn’t an easy path I’ve embarked on, but it’s what I’ve always wanted. That I am built for this & will always see my way out! The best advice I can ever give anyone who wants to pursue their own business, or brand, is to never compare yourself to others. Everyones journey is unique & different. That that is what makes them them, as well as what makes you, you.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
DALLAS is the place to be! So many amazing places to see & share. So many hidden gems, as well as new upcoming restaurants! Deep Ellum has so many spots to stop to have a drink at with a view, as well as Bishop Arts! Theres also downtown, that has Klyde Warren Park where we can walk around & eat at the food trucks! The endless places we can see & eat at!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Oh man, if I can think of anyone to shoutout, anyone at all, it HAS to be my following on Instagram! Man my followers have been with me since day 1! To see it all, to see me grow as a person, in my business & now as a full time photographer & mother. Their daily motivational messages, my clients reviews & infinite love. If there has been days I wanted to quit, I always look back to see and remember all the love and support I’ve received. To be others OWN motivation & inspiration, means everything to me.
