We had the good fortune of connecting with Imad Wakeel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Imad, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
As a recruiter, it is my job to go out and find the highest qualified individual who wants to either serve and/or use the military as a stepping stone to reach their professional goals. In addition, we as recruiters conduct numerous volunteering events within the community. Even though our main mission is to seek the Nation’s finest, we enjoy giving back and helping our neighbors build and maintain the community. Nothing is more satisfying than being a helping hand and providing different avenues towards success for our young women and men.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a Marine Corps recruiter, I spend my days working to find new and passionate individuals that are ready to join one of the world’s most elite groups of fighters. I am one of 2650 recruiters that are responsible for annually recruiting approximately 40,000 applicants. What sets me apart from others is my faith. The road to becoming a recruiter was not easy and it took patience, but I have learned to trust God as He will direct my path. What I want the world to know is that I am excited to be a part of this community and to get to know the kids that I help. I love being a mentor for the next generation. I am proud of everything that I have been able to accomplish so far in my 11 years as a United States Marine, which now includes guiding new and helping them reach their goal of becoming a Marine.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting, I would show them everything that Dallas has to offer. My favorite areas to visit are the downtown areas of each city. Spots like Downtown Frisco give you the small-town feel and you can visit all of the locally-owned restaurants and shops. Downtown Garland and Plano are also fun to visit. We would definitely hang out in the Star District and get some burgers from Wahlburgers and some ice cream from Cow Tipping Creamery. One of the most interesting places to visit is Legacy West. The shops are nice and you can never go wrong by visiting a Starbucks Reserve. We would hang out at Legacy Hall, tasting all of the different foods and hanging out on the green. Finally, we would have to catch a game at AT&T Stadium.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Who is there not to thank? First off, as a Christian, I give thanks to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As far as people in my life who helped me along the way, my wife Ashley has been my biggest supporter, and motivator. She’s rooted for me, made sure I was good to go and whenever I needed anything, she made it happen. She is the definition of a wife! Also, one of my Pastors, Norris Wise, who is a retired Marine gave me advice when I was younger in my career. My in-laws, and family with prayer and support, and so many more to thank.
