We had the good fortune of connecting with Hunter Garrett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hunter, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
Creating, touring, traveling, skating, video games, dogs, seeing friends succeed. Happiness for me always has been directly related to doing what I love.

Please tell us more about your career. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I create content, mainly video and photo, primarily in the music / touring industry. I think what sets me apart from others is my quick turn around time while always maintaining quality content. I think I’m most proud of my first year of touring. I went into it not knowing how it’d be and ended up being gone 10 months that year creating content on the road. I’m most excited about the touring industry getting back on track. Not sure when it’ll be yet, but I am more stoked than ever to be back out creating with friends and traveling the world. I got to where I am today professionally by being constantly driven by my love for music. Ever since I was little, music was the one thing that felt like real magic. I wanted to be involved with it somehow, so I focused on my skillset and applied it to an industry I loved. It wasn’t easy by any means. Staying consistent and working hard towards something I loved kept me going. My story isn’t a crazy one. Just a small town kid who worked hard so he could live out his dreams of creating and traveling the world. Don’t ever think where you’re from dictates where you can go.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love all of Dallas, but Deep Ellum and White Rock Lake are probably my favorite areas. I live over by White Rock, and love riding my bike from home to/around the lake. Tons of great spots over here but lately Smoky Rose, The Whistling Pig, Urban Vines have been go-to’s for sure. Currently live music isn’t really happening due to the pandemic, but on normal weeks we’d have multiple shows / events to choose from in Deep Ellum alone. I’ve never not had fun there. From going to shows at 16 to throwing festivals there in my twenties. So many of the venues hold a special place in my heart. Specifically The Door (RIP) & Prophet Bar. Currently been loving Will Call. Great food and drinks with just an overall awesome vibe. Also there are sooo many amazing photo / video spots in Dallas. So I’m sure we’d be hitting up tons of them to create some content.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to all the artists / businesses that have trusted me to handle their content and create for them! Steve Aoki, New Politics, Hey Violet, Dirty Heads, The Wrecks, Emo Nite, Third String Productions, + Many More! Also my wonderful girlfriend and my wonderful mother who always support me.
