We had the good fortune of connecting with HONEVO BI-HEMISPHERIC and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi HONEVO, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
The Bionic Festival is a sustainable and multicultural project that brings together dance, music and mobile trees & plants, to create one of the few negative carbon events in the cultural sector. This Green Festival where plants are the protagonists, donates its plants and trees to urban gardens and environmental organizations for their replanting. The Bionic Festival has made a huge effort to communicate the importance of plant health, plant protection and environmental consciousness. At the same time it neutralizes its carbon footprint and opens up a necessary debate in the cultural sector regarding the importance of working towards the protection and conservation of plant life in urban settings.

In this project we give visibility to plant life as a an artistic and technological source of inspiration in order to help people realize the importance of caring for and interacting with trees and plants in order to build resilient and sustainable societies in the future.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think that what sets me apart from other artists is my creative universe, that expands through paintings, sculpture, video-art, music, design and other experimental formats. I got to where I am today thanks to the support of my family and friends, they encouraged me to keep creating. The botanical world has always been an immense source of inspiration.

It is not an easy journey, I have overcome the challenges with patience and self-motivation, and I have learned that no matter what obstacles you find in the way, if you really believe in what you do, things will eventually come to fruition.

I want people to understand that culture and art are a tool to inspire, dream and travel. A way to activate our brain and make our lives more rich and beautiful. I believe music, dance, cinema, design… help people overcome many difficulties and make our living experience worth it. I think we all need music, dance, cinema, design, art and plants to make our lives more interesting and to awake and stimulate our senses.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I think I will take them to a Museum with an ethnographic art collection or to an urban park or botanical garden to breath some fresh air and enjoy being in nature.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Yes, there are many artists and collaborators that have been instrumental in the development of the Bionic Festival project. I would like to credit the excellent work of Swiss/ Italian artist Carlotta Storelli, Spanish dancer and choreographer David Vento, Ukranian dancer Nataliya Andru and the winners of the Bionic Festival 2022 Jesús Mirón and Adrían Domínguez. All of them are wonderful artists and environmental activists.
