We had the good fortune of connecting with Holly Dear and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Holly, what inspires you?
As the owner of Dear Clark Hair Studio and a veteran in the hair industry, I have always been inspired by hair techniques, trends, styles and haircare. That said, the core of my inspiration is empowering, educating and inspiring others to a higher level of self-worth and talent. I have always been inspired by the ability of nurturing my team and in turn seeing them nurture one another and our clients. During this pandemic, the strength, hope and positive commitment of my team and my clients to be safe, loved and respected has inspired me to be a leader in the evolution into our new normal. We are stronger together! Our community and the entire Dear Clark tribe inspire me each day.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is a collaboration of mental and physical needs being met. I inspire others to look and feel their best. My ‘art’ is not just about being highly educated and trained in hair and haircare products, but it is also about truly connecting to my clients’ spirits, needs and short / long term goals. I have been in the hair industry for 25 plus years. My journey started at age 6 when I would cut my friends’ hair for $5. In 1996, I worked for Toni & Guy on the art team and in product development for the newest collections, including the launch of Bed Head. I then moved to Italy and did product development and image consulting for a 13-skew product line for the Asian and American markets. Following my return from Italy, I came back to Dallas with the goal of opening a hair studio and developing a natural based product line that actually performs. Hence, Dear Clark and Dear Clark Hair Care. My vision has always been fiercely strong. Staying loyal to this is how I have overcome challenges and continue to strive successfully. The Dear Clark brand and story is ever changing and evolving. I recommend that we as individuals commit to self-care so that our minds and bodies are in the appropriate place to lift ourselves up. It is important to be a positive influence, both mentally and physically, for the people we come in contact with collaboratively. Dear Clark takes great pride in our positive and empowering outlook. We have always committed to this mindset and it carries through in our services and products. I believe in being open to evolution with unconditional love for our society as a whole.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to the city of Dallas! I am thankful to our community, especially during these times. The city has implemented proper safety measures and procedures so businesses and patrons feel comfortable during these uncertain times. Our community has always supported local businesses in a very special way and continues to do so, even more so now. I would not be able to have the success I do if it were not for each individual in my tribe and the loyal, loving community in which I live! Thank you DALLAS!
