We had the good fortune of connecting with Helena Iweajunwa and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Helena, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success is persistence. My mindset of “Keep going no matter what” made me push beyond my limits. As an Event Host, I have to adapt to various events, audiences, and atmospheres seamlessly. Additionally, charisma and stage presence play crucial roles in engaging audiences and keeping the event lively. Effective communication skills, such as clear pronunciation, confidence, and the ability to improvise, are also vital. Finally, professionalism, punctuality, and the ability to work well with event organizers and other vendors contribute to long-term success in the emcee business.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a Financial Analyst/accountant, Financial analysts play a critical role in assessing the financial health and performance of companies, analyzing data to provide insights and recommendations to investors, businesses, and other stakeholders. To excel in this field, strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of financial concepts and markets are essential. Additionally, effective communication skills are crucial for presenting findings and recommendations to clients or management.
In a typical day, a financial analyst might gather and interpret financial data, prepare reports and presentations, conduct industry research, and make forecasts or projections based on their analysis. They often use financial modeling techniques and software to evaluate investment opportunities, assess risks, and make informed decisions.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
All my friends love food and trying out different foods. We sometimes come together with our ingredients and teach each other how to cook our food from our different tribes. You basically have a taste of different nations in ones kitchen and get to go home with plenty.
Fitness challenges are also great and the gym I go to is also a local business which is called JourneyFit, they are my fitness family.
Another Event that I enjoy doing is visiting local art shows and one called ‘Painting with a Push”- you get to do different activities while painting. Really fun and exciting thing to do as well.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
“It takes a village”- thanks to my family and friends for always encouraging me, taking my pictures, listening to me practice every event, learn new dance moves and moreover, just supporting me in all my events. I definitely cant do it without them.
