We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Strong and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hannah, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursed an artistic or creative career because I missed showcasing my creative side after leaving the teaching field of 10 years to be a stay at home mom to my first daughter back in 2021.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am incredibly proud of my signs and how much excitement they have brought to my friends, family and people I haven’t met yet! When the first one was created it brought me so much joy seeing my dream come to life! I couldn’t wait to share them with others. What sets my business apart from others is that all of our door signs are a reprint of a hand painted watercolor piece by our artist. The signs are produced with high quality UV Ink (don’t have to worry about fading) and PVC material. Perfect and sustainable for outdoor conditions. This way you can use them season after season!
I wouldn’t say it’s been easy, but my business wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for my husband, Preston. He took the reins and helped me find a watercolor artist that fit our style, what kind of material we needed in order for our customers to use our signs for years to come and what type of ink we should use. He’s in construction, so he knew what to look for! I’m so incredibly thankful for him!
I have learned that not everybody is going to like what I have to offer and I have to be ok with that. Being a people pleaser, this has been the hardest to overcome, but I’m getting better at accepting that you’re not going to make everybody happy. I have leaned on all the positivity I have received in such a short amount of time since my business has been open. To hear someone say, they came to a pop-up just to buy my signs, brings tears to my eyes. Also, when a customer tells me that my signs bring a smile to their face every time they drive up their driveway… that’s what it’s all about! Putting a smile on peoples faces. We all need that, right?
I want the world to know that you can be a wife, mom and business owner. If you put your mind to it, anything is possible! My goal with owning my own business is to make sure that I can provide for my family emotionally and financially… today, tomorrow and in the future. I want them to know that their mom and wife did everything she could to make sure they had the best life possible. I also want my door signs to put a smile on my customer’s face, even if they are having a bad day!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to all my favorite places in Fort Worth. I would go to Winslow’s Wine Cafe for breakfast and mimosas. Lunch would probably be at Press Cafe. The kids could run around and enjoy each others company while we talked on the patio. Dinner would most likely be at Joe T. Garcia’s for Mexican food and the best margaritas! We would end the night at Mira Vista Country Club for some live music and after dinner drinks. There is nothing better than being with friends on a patio listening to live music!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my family. Without my husband, daughters, parents, brother and my husband’s family, none of this would be possible. Being a mother of three girls under three, it’s hard to even find time to sleep, nonetheless run a business. But with the encouragement, support and love from my family I have the time and mental capacity to pursue my dreams of owning my own business. I couldn’t do it without all of them! My circle of friends also deserves credit for believing in me and supporting me. They are always willing to promote my business to their friends and family.
